4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect
I love the color of these bowls and I love the way they nest. They are just so darn close to being perfect that I wish I could just change two things about them.
1. They can't be used in the microwave. Yes, I know they are "mixing" bowls and not something you cook in, but I would really like to be able to soften some butter or cream cheese before mixing.

2. They do slide around on the counter because there's no rubber ring or feet to keep them stable. I solve that by putting the bowls on a silicone hot pad when I'm really putting them to use.
The other feature that some people might not like is that they have steep sides which go down to a fairly flat and narrow bottom. This is not the best shape for using a mixer.
Despite these issues, I still give them a four. They are the happiest looking bowls I've ever seen and I enjoy using them for mixing and for serving.

4.0 out of 5 stars so ugly they're cute!, April 6, 2010

i love these bowls and use them all the time. i also ordered a set for my roommate. i would have given this product 5 stars, but i want everyone to know that lids are NOT included. The description says that they are, so when I didn't receive any, I contacted Amazon and let them know. they offered to send me a new set and i accepted. new set came. no lids. okay.... i contacted amazon again and explained that i didn't even SEE where lids could be included. they gave me a deal on the bowls and said they'd change the description on the website. this hasn't been done yet. so just a heads up, y'all -- no lids. but the bowls are super cute for mixing/serving/whatever! The biggest one is a good size to do a brownie mix or a salad for a crew, and the smallest one is good for dips and sauces.

We use these bowls all of the time. My girls love them b/c they're pretty so they love having snacks in them and I do a lot of mixing in them. I have also used them for salad. They will be great this summer for potato & macaroni salads.

I am a vintage melmac lover who doesn't buy anything made in China. In fact I thought these bowls would be crap. I bought them only to do a review on them, because I run the RetroChalet blog on blogger which is all about vintage plastic and history of vintage melamine back when they were made in the 50's. It was an unpaid review and I was planning on talking about how horrible they were, and about how people should buy Vintage Texasware. Much to my dismay, they were given a high satisfaction rating be me. You can see my video on Youtube under my name or visit my blog site and see a video and full review I did under "Zak ". Sadly I would upload the video but I have since deleted the master copy as I purchased them months ago.

I just thought I should rate them now, three months later, as they are still being used and abused in my kitchen and I am so very pleased with them that I would recommend them to a friend, and or, buy more.

The only suggestion I had for the company is to put a proper care and use tag on them, because these bowls should not be mircowaved, or used for very hot items or they risk breaking.

We use them for peanuts, popcorn, fruit and salads and they are lovely and colorful to look at.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not DROP them! :FRAGILE:Another "GREEN" idea fills up the Landfill ., November 20, 2010

We had a set of these with 4 in the set. Daughter dropped one and it did not survive the 3 foot drop and cracked. Another dropped and another one cracked. Down to one bowl. Great idea to recycle but when they all land up in the LANDFILL months after purchase I do not see the point. Another company trying to make a quick buck. Cha -Ching$

I love the color of these bowls, but they break VERY easily. All it takes is a tap on the sink or Luke warm water in a refrigerated bowl and they crack in half. I am very disappointed!

3.0 out of 5 stars I like these but they are breakable!, May 7, 2010
This review is from: Zak Designs Confetti Assorted Brights Mixing Bowls, Set of 4 (Kitchen)
I have 2 sets of these bowls and 3 of the larger 7.5 QT bowls. I love the color they look amazing but I have had 2 of them break. I had one of the large 7.5qt bowls break almost in half. I pulled it out of the cabinet and it was broken, I have no clue how it happened. Then the Green one from this set got a crack in the top rim of it. I had read some reviews warning not to use in the microwafe so I DID NOT! I did however put them in the dishwasher a few times. I contacted ZAK and told them of my disapointment and they did replace the green bowl for me after I submitted photos. They also warned me against puting them in the dish washer. I still love these bowls and use them almost every day! but I now hand wash them ONLY!

3.0 out of 5 stars Intially, I loved these, June 26, 2011

When I got these, I really, really loved them. Loved the color, loved the look, and the sizes were versatile -- just what I needed. But, like others here, I was crushed when the one I thought most useful developed a crack. Had no idea how it happened. I always washed these by hand and obviously never tried to microwave them or otherwise abuse them. I still have three, and yes, I do use them. But every time I go to grab the "lime green" one, I feel the loss.

3.0 out of 5 stars beautiful but fragile, January 1, 2011
This review is from: Zak Designs Confetti Assorted Brights Mixing Bowls, Set of 4 (Kitchen)
Love the way these bowls look - I use them for so many things. Unfortunately, after the set of bowls slipped a mere 12 inches from a low shelf to the floor, the largest (my favorite orange one) broke into 3 pieces. I love them so much I would replace it if I could, but only want the one bowl - not a whole new set.
