I have purchased it couple of weeks ago and just installed into my computer. I can say one only thing - this is just great to control speed of cooling fans. When I don't run CPU-intensive applications, I am lowering fan's speed to the minimum, which makes my computer really quiet.

* Warning: don't forget to install temperature monitoring application (which usually comes with drivers for motherboard). It will warn you in case if CPU of motherboard temperature exceeds a limit. Otherwise, even considering a fact, that all modern BIOS'es have automatic temperature shutdown procedure, you may still potentially burn your computer components when cooling power is not enough.

The Zalman ZM-MFC1 6 channel fan controller is an excellent addition to your computer for fan speed and noise control. I was having some issues with noise on my computer rig, so I switched out a few cheaper fans for better ones and purchased the Zalman controller.

The Zalman controller is easy to install: there are two plug in system/cpu motherboard leads and two plug in leads for direct case fan control. There are also two additional toggle switches for two more fans as well. These connect with a direct bare wire black/red connection. Why they have it set up this way I am unsure. None-the-less, it's a nice addition. The whole setup/install took me about 30 minutes give or take with placing wires so they wouldn't "hang out" in my case,etc.

The unit looks very nice; it gives your case kind of an "old fashioned" but very cool "retro" control look to your case front panel, kind of like a computer control panel might have looked in the 70's; with six LED's that glow blue, the two toggles switch between 5 volts and 12 volts or OFF with red or blue LED output. The adjutment knobs are a nice aluminum look and the backplate is a dark semi opaque blue showing the circuit board beneath.

So far it works well and has given me much more flexibility to adjust my fans to keep everything quiet, or louder/faster for extreme gaming or just about anywhere in between. I like the overall look and feel. The price is right for this unit and I would recommend it if you like this particular style of controller units.

This works great. I found that I had to turn the speed all the way up to get the fans to initally come on during boot. After that, I could turn them back down to a better level.

This looks nice, has nice wiring harnesses, but is not very good at its intended function ie. speed control. The controls are too cheap, very narrow range of control, not much better than the hi-lo toggle switches.

Zalman has always been, and most likely will always be a quality brand name in PC cooling components and accessories. This fan controller is no exception. It works exactly as advertised, GREATLY reducing the noise of my case fans (3 external, 1 CPU). It's the difference between night and day. The wiring was simple, the instructions were very easy to understand. The only difficulty I had was mounting the unit in one of my drive bays. My case has a tool-less design for the drive bays, and this unit simply isn't deep enough to use those, so a little custom mounting was needed, but it looks great and works even better. Can't go wrong with this.

I am glad with this purchase...looks cool in the Antec 1200 case. It's glow makes the case look cool!
