Product Description

Manufacturer Description

With the goal of enhancing the computing environment, all Zalman Tech products are noise-free. This product is a noise-free 400W ATX (version 2.03)/ATX12V power supply supporting Intel Pentium 4 and AMD CPUs. By implementing heat-sensor circuitry that controls the cooling fan's speed (rpm) in relation to the temperature within the power supply, emanating noise has been greatly reduced.

Simplifying Source Input - Free Voltage
Unlike products with Passive PFC, where you have to set the operating voltage (115VAC/230VAC) with a manual switch, this product can be used with any normal AC input source ranging from 100VAC to 240VAC. Certified with Safety Approval EMC Standards - UL, C-UL, CE, TUV, CB-NEMKO, FCC.

Improving Power Factor & Eliminating Harmonics through Active PFC
By implementing Active PFC, the power factor (PF) is improved from 75% (Passive PFC) to 94% (at full load), while harmful harmonic frequencies are reduced below regulatory requirements.

Supplies Stable Power to Intel Pentium 4
By including a ATX12V 2x2 (4-pin) 12V power connector and an auxiliary 5-pin power connector, this product can provide stable power to Intel Pentium 4 CPUs, which need 6A of current from each power rail.

High Efficiency Power Supply
Designed with a high switching frequency and low power-loss circuitry, the efficiency of this product exceeds 75% (at full load).

What's in the Box:
One Power Supply, one Multi-connector for Fan (Use this to supply power to extra fan.), one Power Cord for AC Power Source (Not included in some countries), one User Manual, Zalman Cable Tie.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very high test, very stable PSU!, November 4, 2005

This review is from: Zalman ZM400A-APF 400-Watt Noiseless Power Supply (Personal Computers)
This is essentially a top of the line, active PFC, power supply from Fortron Source, that's been customized and given a Zalman "silent treatment". I've had one for about eight months now and it is rock stable and absolutely silent! It replaced the loud cheap piece of junk that came in a rather costly Sony Vaio RZ14G. Only adding an upgraded video card (Radeon 9600XT) and nothing else, burned Sony's cheap 289 Watt piece of crap right out. At first I was really pissed because Sony didn't provide for an upgrade, or even a way to replace the junk they used. While I was hoping they'd choke on the lousy 10 extra bucks they made, I found out that Sony also saw to it that their PSU size wasn't to the ATX form factor! But when I carefully measured the Vaio case's PSU cabinet, I discovered that with just a little good old fashion muscle juice, I could cram the Zalman ZM400A in without modifying anything! The only thing I had to do was replace the extra-deep (and very slow) stock DVD R/W unit with a much faster and better (and 3/4" shorter) Asus unit! So, SC#$W YOU Sony!
