The Republic of Zambia, a land-locked country in southern Africa, is situated on a plateau ranging from 1,970 to 5,250 feet (600 to 1,600 meters) above sea level. The country experiences a tropical climate with three seasons: a cool, dry season from April to August; a hot, dry season from August to November; and a warm, wet season from November to April. Drained by four major rivers (the Zambezi, Kafue, Luangwa, and Luapula), Zambia is home to a number of waterfalls, including the famous Victoria Falls.
