5.0 out of 5 stars But Mom, What are Moon Pies?
We have twin 4 year olds (boy and girl) and they LOVE this book! They are truly mesmorized by the illustrations! We have read it continuously for the last 3 days. It has space exploration, martians without feet, not scary monsters, moon pies! @#?, and lessons to listen to Mom. Of course, no matter how hard I try, I can't explain a 'moon pie.' But, they're on the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Advertising gimmick
This book is a pure marketing book for Moon Pies. It even includes a coupon for Moon Pies in the back. The story itself is quite engaging. It describes a boy who travels to outer space to get his Moon Pies. He even pacifies a monster on Mars with a Moon Pie. The entire book is dedicated to increasing the readers desire to purchase and eat Moon Pies- -completely...

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one of the greatest children's books !, October 3, 2000
By A Customer
This is one of the greatest most imaginative children's books I have read in such a long time. This is a book I am proud to read as a parent and will love to read as a grandparent. The book has wonderful illustrations and takes children on an out of this world adventure. The great thing about this book is that it has no mean characters, it teaches good values (sharing), and ties in an old nursery rhyme to the creative story. What a treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars an awesome space adventure, March 6, 2004
A Kid's Review
Cool book! I love the way the moon looks and I wish I was Jimmy Zangwow. I think it's really funny when the Grimble Grinder burps and blows up the balloon. My teacher read this book to our class and we loved it and we had a moonpie party. PS- send Jimmy on another trip!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Never Abandon Imagination!", October 2, 2002

Those words are inscribed on an introductory page to this book, and the idea is embodied on every page that follows. In delightful, retro-modern styling reminiscent of the 1950's, a tale unfolds to delight the senses of any child (or child at heart!). When Mom says Jimmy can't have his favorite snack (a Moon Pie and milk) before dinner, he sets off to get some on his own. His adventure takes him to the moon and back, and lands him in his back yard just in time for dinner. My four year old (and his parents) adored this book, and, of course, HAD to have some Moon Pies to go with it (which, by the way, are an actual pre-existing product available online through a webside provided in the acknowledgments of the book). A more sensitive friend of mine was slightly put off by the belching scenes in the story, but we found those parts particularly inventive and humorous. No imaginative 4-8 year-old's collection should be without this remarkable, endearing book.

The wonderful 50's feel of the illustrations adds to this delightful story of just how far a small boy will go for a Moon Pie. Jimmy's adventure takes him to the Moon (where else would you get Moon Pies?)The milky way and Mars. His search for Moon pies becomes an adventure in gaining, sharing and imagination. A total delight!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jimmy Zangwow's Out-Of-This-World Moon Pie Adventure, March 24, 2000
By A Customer
An out of this world book! This is a book for the child in all of us. And for the Moon Pie eater in all of us... The wealth of imagination and creative artisty is astounding. The images are so detailed and deeply imagined they seem ready to animate. ( And I am certain they will soon be a major animated cartoon.) The story is simple, fun, and probably somewhat auto-biographical. I know it reminded me of my childhood, and my imaginary friend, Filbert agrrees. ( It reminds him of my childhood too. ) So I guess that means the story has that special element of truth that is the most imoprtant detail, even in a fanatsy. I can't wait for the next Jimmy Zangwow adventrue & my next Moon Pie!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Outer Space Adventure, July 2, 2001
What would you do for a Moon Pie and milk? When Jimmy Zangwow's mother tells him he can't have a snack because it's too close to dinner, he takes matters into his own hands, jumps into his secret project, a junk jumbilee jalopy and takes off for the moon. The man in the moon has plenty of Moon Pies, but no milk, so he suggests Jimmy visit the Milky Way. The Milky Way has gallons and quarts and pints of milk, but there's also a Grimble Grinder living there, with a grumble-rumble so loud that Jimmy's jalopy flips and he, the Moon Pies and milk tumble straight down to Mars where he meets Martians who will do anything for a Moon Pie and milk..... Tony DiTerlizzi has authored a very delightful and creative story that will let little imaginations soar as youngsters join Jimmy on his magical space adventure. His humorous text, full of wordplay, jokes and alliteration is only outdone by Mr DiTerlizzi's outstanding, bold, brilliant and expressive artwork and children will love poring over all the wonderful details in each picture. Perfect for youngsters 4-8, Jimmy Zangwow's Out-of-this-World Moon Pie Adventure is a winner and a galactic journey, no future astronaut should miss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Out of this world!, October 9, 2005
This incredibly charming book has fabulous illustrations that will remind some of a 1950s kids book BUT kids won't find it old-fashioned at all! It is a fabulous journey w/ Jimmy Zangwow. I've given it for birthday presents... complete w/ a box of Moon pies from Cracker Barrel. My three year old little girl adores it... as does her 8 year boy cousin! Don't miss it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Zip Pip Kaboodle for Jimmy Zangwow's Moon Pie Adventure!, August 14, 2005

It is an absolutely fabulous book! My son has been asking to read this book every night for the past month. We have flown to the moon, Mars and the Milky Way. We have become good friend with the Grimble Grinder, an of course gotten more than our share of moon pie. Yes, it is always shared with the Mars men. This book is on our all time favorites list!
