Book Description

January 15, 2008
Conflict-itis is everywhere ... Zapping Conflict in the Health Care Workplace breaks the code of silence surrounding the ongoing taboo subject of workplace sabotage, conflict and bullying within the professional healthcare workplace.Over 12 million women and men work in healthcare--nursing, dentistry, pharmacy and medicine. Shortages are everywhere, yet mega-thousands choose to not worked within the professional they spent years training for. Why? It's all about behaviors in the workplace.Based on two studies with over 3,000 respondents and the author's ongoing research on the topics of conflict and sabotage in the workplace, Zapping Conflict in the Health Care Workplace is a 'must have' for anyone within the leadership role.Chosen as the main selection of the Nurse Book Society, Judith Briles provides a detailed guide to awareness, prevention, resolution of conflict and sabotage, and ultimately, to the empowerment of all who work in health care.

From the Author

One of the biggest problems health care and nursing faces today is both the quanity and quality of health care professionals. Now, more than ever, marginal employees must be let go--they cause coworkers productivity, morale and loyalty to decline. At times, a patient's safety is at risk. In the end, the employer can lose millions of dollars. Conflict and sabotage are more prevalent in the health care workplace than ever before. Zapping Conflict will show managers, and coworkers, how to deal with difficult people and situations--keep the winners and lose the losers. A detoxed workplace is the result.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, June 11, 2008
This review is from: Zapping Conflict in the Health Care Workplace (Paperback)
I have read many of this author's books and they are all so enlightening. For this book, it didn't matter that I'm not in the health care business, learning how to handle conflict is a universal need for small offices to large corporations. This should be required reading for all businesses.
