Zebco's Platinum series reels take the company's proven Authentic 33, 11, and 11T reels to a new level of performance and durability. Built with an easy-to-use casting trigger, the Platinum 11PLT reel also offers such refined features as a precision-machined metal body, a four-bearing drive system, and a Continuous Anti-Reverse function that immediately keeps the reel from unwinding when a fish is on the line. The reel's built-in Hook Keeper, meanwhile, gives you a handy place to store your fishing lure after a long day. Other features include dual-line pickup pins, a changeable right- or left-hand retrieve, and a 4.3:1 power gear ratio. Pre-spooled with 4-pound Cajun line, the 11PLT carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

About Zebco
Watchmaker, barber, and inventor R.D. Hull founded Zebco in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1949, in conjunction with the Zero Hour Bomb Company. The latter company, which manufactured electric time bombs designed to fracture oil wells, was looking to expand beyond its initial product and its expiring patent. Zebco's maiden reel was called the Standard, and was soon to be joined by the Model 22 in 1953. The Model 11 and Model 33 followed, helping popularize the notion of landing larger fish with lighter tackle. Dozens of products and patents later, Zebco still pays tribute to the legacy of R.D. Hull with every rod and reel the company produces. The W.C. Bradley Company purchased Zebco in 2001, but the company headquarters remains in Tulsa.

This reel fits all my vintage American-made fishing poles--Eagle Claw to Shakespeare--with no problem. I still own an older, original model 11 which I fell in love with for its price, smooth and effortless function, amazing cast-ability, light weight, longevity and like most reels, corrosion resistance, but eventually wore it out from years of use. So naturally I got one of these new ones with all the snazzy ball bearings. Casting and retrieving with it are second nature and it casts long and reels in fast. It is very ergonomically designed. If you know and favor trigger-operated spin-cast reels, you'll love this jem, and it is at least as smooth as my first one . Unfortunately it's mighty glossy and shiny (unlike my first one) and made in China, not USA, like Zebcos once were, so you may notice very slight imperfections, but overall it's very well made. I've tried four other micro, trigger spin-cast reels by other well known manufacturers and don't like any of them as much. They collect dust now.

I always wanted to try a trigger spin reel. Can't beat a Zebco for price and reliability. The reel even came with line. Stuck it on a pole went out fishing worked great. Nice quality and finish. It's not the smoothest casting reel out there, for the money it's a great reel.
