Got the Omega reel for my birthday, I've used it a few times and it works great. With a heaver lure you can throw it a country mile. Very smooth retrieve. Solidly built, may seem heavy if you are used to the spinning reels. Works like the old school Johnsons from the 50s and 60s (not the cheap junk they make now). Try it, you'll like it!

You can't beat the Zebco Omega if you're looking for a spincast reel. It is made almost entirely of high quality, metal parts so it's only drawback is that it is a bit on the heavy side. I don't mind the weight because with it, you get quality you can both see and feel. The smoothness and quietness of the 6 bearings is unmatched by any other spincast reel I've ever used and the drag is simple to operate allowing for both a wide and granular adjustment. I was shocked at how far I could cast with it (must be the ceramic pins). I used it lake fishing my first time out (after putting new 6 lb. Trilene line on it) and was easily outcasting my brother in-law who was using a spinning reel.

At first I thought the price was a bit high for a spincast but the oscillating spool and quick-spool-change-out system make this reel worth every penny. These features, along with its superior casting performance make it every bit as good as a standard spinning reel with less maintenance. It is as easy to change out the spool on the Zebco Omega as any standard spinning reel. It comes with a spare spool out of the box and I found a couple of online stores that sell spare spools for about $5 each (shipping not included); thus, this reel could really take a workout on a marathon fishing trip.

I have also tried the Diawa Goldcast and, as far as I am concerned, there simply is no better spincast reel on the market. If you want the best product that will last you forever, buy the Zebco Omega.

I have a fishing friend who uses spinning reels. I use this Zebco, and I out cast him easily! He has problems with his reels, and I just laugh and keep fishing!
I also have the Z02 on an ultralight rod. Love both of them. Oh, and did I mention you only need one hand to use these babies?

Purchased for my husband. Several fisherman had recommended this reel to him. He loves it!!!!! Has already caught dinner with it!!!

I bought two of these for my wife and little girl to use. They absolutely love them. I paired the reels with ugly stik rods and it is one sweet combo. These things cast like a dream and man at the distance, they easily cast as far as my open face reels (Pflueger Supreme XT). So, if you want a simple to use quality built reel, this is for you.

I already had two of these Z03 reels on my boat so I have had a lot of experience using them. This purchase was to give me a third one for a backup in case I lost most of the line off of one, etc. A fishing buddy who has 50+ years of fishing experience and normally uses standard reels was with me on my boat and had not brought his poles so he was using one of mine. After several casts with my Z03, his comment was: "Oh, that's sweet." I have been a Zebco fan all my life and have 5 or 6 really old ones in the garage - a couple of which I got as a boy. This Z03 is the best Zebco I've ever used and the only one I will use from now on.

This is a GREAT spincast reel. It is built like a tank and easy to use. This reel will last me forever. Drag works great also. Yes, the reel is a little on the heavy side, but very low profile. Trust me, if you enjoy fishing without the hassle of overpriced gear that gets "rat's nests" every 5 minutes, this reel is for you. Great reel for having fun with the kids also.

I just returned to fishing after 30 years. I was very satisfied with the reel when joined with the ugly stik as suggested. The quality I remember is still in the Zebco product line with the Omega Z03. The no sales tax and free shipping closed the deal with me.

I bought one of these as a spare reel to catch Barramundi with in Northern Australia, (I am only a novice)...I was surprise at how good it is, it was never tested to the extreme but it did fish well on Mangrove Jacks and a lot of big undesirables (Cod, Barracudas big Bream etc). Firstly I was using Braid which worked perfectly, Barramundi fishing requires pin point accurate casting which is where it shone, as the line spools off freely it allowed me to have a more compact tidy action and was especially easier on difficult backswing style casting, Not once did i need to take it apart (1000 cast+) occasionally it would snag inside but only required manually pulling some line off it before rewinding it, All in all it is amazing for the price, trouble free action & perfect for beginners on a budget, the only slight downer is the drag which feels cheap but it is a cheap reel,,, so,,, Serious Barra fisherman would be horrified but it is a great little reel for the price, very impressed
