Hands down this is the one book for under ...that any zebra finch hobbyists should own. As an experienced breeder and keeper of finches on a large scale, I recommend this book for anyone who might consider keeping zebra finches as pets. I recommend the book so strongly that I purchase a stock of copies of this book and make them available to new finch keepers at my cost whenever people seek to acquire birds from our breeding program.

The book has enough detail for people who want to go beyond the simple basics, but is well written and easy enough to understand for even the most introductory pet owner. Parents whose children want to keep a pet bird, should buy this book for them first and then read it together before purchasing any pet bird.

My recommendation is to buy this book first and then proceed to acquire some healthy zebra finches on the path to an enjoyable and rewarding lifelong relationship with pet birds. Finches are some of the only birds that we can provide with full and active lifestyles in captivity and zebra finches are some of the best choices for keeping real birds that engage in real bird behavior in close proximity with our human environment.

This is a must have book for a new owner. I found it to be very helpful and an easy read. After reading a few other books I still had many unanswered questions. This book answered almost all of them! In the future I will buy all books about Zebra Finches written buy Hans-Jurgen Martin.

This little book tells you most of what you need to know about these charming little birds. The illustrations are excellent and I found the section on understanding these hyperactive little birds very interesting.

THIS IS A GREAT BOOK. THE JUST STARTING OUT BIRD RAISER AND THE EXPERIENCED BIRD RAISER WILL BOTH BENEFIT FROM THIS BOOK. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. I WILL BE REFERRING TO IT OFTEN. TELLS YOU EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT KEEPING AND RAISING ZEBRA FINCHES. THE BEST BOOK THAT I FOUND ABOUT ZEBRA FINCHES. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

This is an excellent book but it is too short. I would have liked to have seen more information.

His chapter on habitat and distribution is great, it follows with behavior and flocks and colonies. He has interesting and useful pictures of the birds in the wild, but they are all on one page. You kind of say, ''oh,'' when it should have been ''wow.''

It had tremendous potential but it seems like someone took a scissor and hacked off too much original content.

The illustrations are great, and they are all of Zebra finches. He includes drawings and pictures of aviaries, and other housing options, suggestions galore.

Then, in the section on ''health care,'' someone cut and pasted a picture of a canary having its nails clipped.

It places a caption, ¨trim your bird's nails carefully to avoid injury.¨ It just seems to scream ''aw to hell with it, we gotta press.'' Bad, shabby attitude.

... Hopefully trim your Zebra's nails more carefully, than the guys who edited the book would have!

The canary shown is also twice the size of a Zebra finch. The author suggests holding the little claw up to a light, to not cut into a blood vessel; far from what the picture demonstrates.

Despite the shortcomings, which appear to be out of the author, Hans Jurgen Martin's control, ¨Zebra Finches¨ is an informative, fun read. His love for these little birds is so clear, and just as contagious.

I needed help with raising finches, I unexpectedly had eggs laid from my finches and did not know what to do so I looked on Amazon and found a zebra finch book for 1 cent!!!!!!!!That is right one cent, and the book was in excellent condition and helped me greatly. I would recommend Amazon to everyone....

I thought about getting a couple of zebra finches after seeing a pair in a local retail store. They look so adoreable. I bought this book to find out what thier care was all about. Turns out, a lot of care is required so I decided not to get any. If you do get any, this book will come in very handy.

I had finches scince i was six years old and i always loved them. I have taken care of them in my own way but i decided i wanted to know more details about them, so i checked out this book and it taught me alot of stuff about them. It teaches you how to take care of them and how to help them have a happy nest, also to keep them healthy and happy.

This book is a complete owner's manual for people who own zebra finches . It is an excellent book and arrived on the date projected .
