A shipping workhorse.,
This review is from: Zebra LP2844 Thermal Label Printer (Electronics)
For those who regularly ship through the USPS or even UPS, this little machine will save you time and money. It holds large rolls of labels and requires NO ink. There are no ink refill costs. With very few moving parts, there are less opportunities for malfunction or breakage. Used and refurbished units are generally a safe buy. I've been using a refurbished machine for 2 years and have printed thousands and thousands of labels with NO issues. I would suggest that one conduct thorough research as prices for these machines can vary greatly - especially for not-new machines. I would also suggest that users consider investing in better quality labels for shipping use. Cheaper labels seem to print less darkly than those that are higher quality. Lastly, extended exposure to intense sunlight or heat and the gum of most tape will darken thermal labels. To keep from losing your printed information (and addresses) refrain from taping over the labels and avoid extended exposure to intense sunlight and heat.As far as specifics go, I use the Zebra LP 2844 thermal printer with a desktop PC and Endicia postage software.

Took a little while tinkering with the settings (dimensions), but once up and running, works like a charm! I use it solely for UPS shipping labels, which I buy direct from UPS. I've owned it for 2 months now and have had no issues.

I recently purchased a Refurbished Zebra unit, and it was just like new, works perfectly and it arrived in a timely manner, with all of the parts inside. What really impressed me was the packaging, I work in purchasing and so many companies out there package items horribly, which causes returns and more work this item was bubble wrapped and plastic wrapped to prevent internal damage to the machine, its the little things ya know and this company has them covered!

I agree with the previous two reviews in that the drivers are not adequate and trouble-shooting is non-existent. I've updated my machines to Win7 and now I need to buy another printer (Not Zebra) to accommodate that change. Zebra is too busy making money to keep it's current users happy.

This company basically owns this market. Every time there is an OS change they are extremely slow to provide new drivers. Example. They updated their Vista drivers very slow and in May 2009 posted a revision. Most vendors knew how they to make them Win 7 compatible by that time. There drivers are not and as the writing of this review have not been updated. The Vista drivers only partially work and they are aware of this ---come on!

We have 3 zebra label printers at my company. I am the IT guy and I can confidently say these things are not worth 1/20th the price that they retail at. They are horrible.Don't get me wrong, they are okay as long as you never have any problems, but if you do, you are screwed. All you have for diagnostics is a little light that flashes red or green. Guess what, one of my staff is red/green colorblind. What a stupid design. For this price you'd expect at least an LCD screen that states what the issue is, but nope. You have to call customer service and they have you count the blinks with the colors and have you push the button while you turn it on, etc. The only printer I've ever seen that is worse than this one is the Zebra TLP-2844z. That one is even worse. Oh, and I have to mention I think Zebra intentionally sets their printers to use lots of their labels, because when we had to do a manual calibration it took maybe 50 labels. At the price they charge for labels, it is pretty sickening to see all those labels get wasted. Check out the other printers out there by other companies. At 1/5th the price of this hunk of junk you could buy a new one every time you ran out of labels and still be ahead($). ;)

I think the slogan is if you a serious about shipping... Or something along those lines.I'm pretty sure I have an Electronic crush on this machine. The two things that have saved my life are my iPhone, and the Zebra... I know it's a weird statement, but I couldn't imagine shipping anything without it now. It's the perfect device for a small business and will print out about as fast as you need it. Never jams and a solid machine. Bought it from Office Supply & Equipments and they brought it to my door the next day... Not FedEx, the actual company. Talk about service!

I got one of these used, I just didn't want to shell out over $300 for something I was unsure about. Now that I have the printer, I absolutely love it! Took me a while to setup, but after I found the right drivers(just google), worked great with my stamps.com software. I would highly recommend this product for anyone running a small business at home. Before I got this printer I was using just a regular ink jet from walmart, that printer is great, but it takes forever to print, not to mention the cost of ink. So 5 star review from me!!!

Fast, Reliable, Saves me $$ (pd $380),
This review is from: Zebra LP2844 Thermal Label Printer (Electronics)
I have been printing labels onto Avery 5126 paper for a long time now, but realized that it may not be the most cost effective method because of ink, paper, and drums. This LP 2844 has been a life saver and $$$ saver too! Just love it!
