I bought this playpen for my new pomeranian puppy to have a safe place to sleep while I was away or sleeping or busy, so I don't have to keep my eyes on him all the time. This does exactly what it is supposed to do. It is very cute and it comes with a fully zebra print carrying case that reminds me of an art portfolio case, it's very simple. it has a few pockets on the sides which I may use more when I travel with my dog, but for now they are useful for keeping his toys in when I want him to be sleeping and not playing. I have set it up so that he has a small bed, a pee pad, and a bowl for food and water. I am planning on removing the bowls once he is out of the danger zone for being hypoglycemic and does not need to have constant access to food and water, so he will only have the bed after a while. I might leave the pad in just because it's easier for him to potty there than wake me up to go out but I do want him to learn that once he has his shots so eventually it might just be his bed in there. I figured that a pomeranian puppy is too small to properly crate train anyway (since the crate is supposed to be only large enough that they can stand up and turn around), I may as well give him plenty of space. I keep him in there whenever I can't keep a close watch on him and I have the top part totally unzipped (the mesh on top actually completely detaches if you want it to. I have done that and am keeping it in the carrying case for if we go anywhere with it. My puppy cannot possibly jump out the top so it's nice for me to have quick access to him in there.
It was difficult to figure out how to fold down at first but once you figure it out it works nicely. I took it with me to a barbecue to give my puppy a quiet, familiar place to rest and it worked great.
My only complaint so far is that my puppy has taken to chewing the edge of one of the panels inside and has easily torn up some of the black material lining the wiry bits on the edges of the panels. The material is something like nylon and it gets very stringy when he pulls it and it worries me that he will eat these strings and get some kind of intestinal upset. The zippers are also a little finicky around the curves but I imagine that will happen with many things like this.
I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants a safe place to keep their small dog when they can't watch them. Not sure if it would be great for dogs over 20lbs, but for my 1.5 lb puppy and hopefully my 4lb full grown dog, it works just great.
