I bought a pair of these about four years ago. I've gone through a handful of chunky erasers, several packs of lead, dozens of reams of paper, two and a half years of graduate school, and three actuarial exams since then and they're both still going strong. I was just putting pencil lead on my list of things to pick up when I started to reflect on how awesome these are.

I felt that I really ought to do something to show the company my appreciation. I haven't had the opportunity to be a repeat customer because it seems that two is a lifetime supply. So I hope that this review helps them sell a couple extra packs.

A friend that I studied with a couple of years ago used cheap plastic Bics which he bought by the sack (literally). They didn't grip the lead well, the tip broke frequently, and the pencils usually failed before they ran out of lead. They probably averaged about ten hours of use which means that he was going through about one a day. There's no doubt that my two Zebra M-301s have gone through several THOUSAND hours of use, and like I said, functionally, they seem as good as new. The lead never slips, rarely breaks, and I've had maybe a dozen jams in that entire period (which were easily corrected).

One of the most outstanding products I have ever purchased. I have noticed that their narrow body does make my hand sore on long written exams, but if you're looking for a reliable workhorse, look no further.

I haven't seen this pencil in stores much lately, so I've tried many others, even some more expensive pencils. None was as good as this pencil. The barrel is nice and slim, it writes smoothly, and even with the fine point lead, the tip doesn't seem to break much. It has a white polymer eraser, which erases completely without leaving eraser marks (unlike the pink erasers). Glad Amazon stocks them!

The Zebra M-301 is literally, the greatest pencil I've ever used and is also the only pencil I use. Whenever someone notices that I only use the Zebra and ask "Why do you use the same pencil?", I simply reply " Because it's the greatest pencil in the world." I really do love the Zebra M-301 and am honored to take it with me to ASU as well. The only negative thing about it is it's eraser, which I only use in emergancies and until then I use it with the Black Pearl erasar (Another great product).

I've used a slew of pencils, both mechanical and wooden, in my 6 years of drawing and this is by far the best I have come across. The pencil is perfectly balanced and makes lines smoothly, the grip doesn't annoy, and the eraser is passable. Another cool thing about these pencils is that they hardly ever jam and if they do, it's an easy fix. The lead's sturdy unless you start to put a lot of pressure on it, but you can get a lot of variation with these babies. I tend to buy the different varieties of leads they sell so I can get the soft and hard leads I need for shading without having to sharpen my pencil every two seconds.

One thing i've noticed about these pencils is that the eraser runs out quickly, and the little cap on the top is ridiculously easy to lose. I would suggest buying a seperate eraser and forgoing the use of the one on the pencil entirely except for emergencies.

After my father got me hooked on office supplies (pens and pencils), I've been constantly buying and trying all kinds of mechanical pencils. This specific one is durable, good looking, and sturdy. It is by far my favorite pencil to write with. I've always hated wooden pencils, with always having to sharpen them and such. Bic mechanical pencils aren't sufficient for long term writing, but I don't blame them becuase they're disposable. This one is refillable, and literally lasts a VERY long time. The cap isn't much of an issue as long as you don't lose it. Yet, if you do lose it, the pencil is very unnattractive, and you won't stand a chance in finding it! The only problem I have is the super tiny eraser. I use it only for emergencies, but the emergencies add up leading to no eraser. They are also very difficult to find it my area. I would like to say that I'd buy this product again, but I cannot as there is no need to! I've bought and tried a slew of pencils, thought they were fantastic, but ALWAYS return to this one!

These are the best mechanical pencils on the market (IMHO)! It writes smoothly, has a nice fine point and has sturdy lead. The eraser doesn't erase as cleanly as I would like, but I don't use it very often, so that doesn't matter to me so much. Also, the weight is nice. It makes me feel like I'm writing with a more expensive pencil. I gave all of my old mechanical pencils away and only use these. No more trial and error. Great brand, great product!

Can't get enough of these pencils!

I have always liked the fine tip pencils/pens, and these get the job done.

The eraser seems to be good, but i rarely make mistakes, so i wouldn't no...haha..
