Canon should supply these caps with all their lenses. Instead they supply side pinch caps that are impossible to get off if you have a hood attached. Some people use Nikon caps on Canon lenses just to get the center pinch. This is a nice alternative at a lower price. Fit is perfect on the 58mm lens, and the center pinch is wonderful...you can get the cap on and off with the hood attached.

although the general structure is the same as the nikon caps, this cap is not as tight as the nikon brand and falls off very easily with the lightest touch. i just returned from a convention that i was shooting for and this lens came off numerous times as i was picking it up or getting it in and out of my bag. i almost lost the cap once because i hadn't noticed it fall off. other than falling off easily this cap does what it needs to but i strongly recommend having a filter on your lens if you buy this cap because otherwise you could end up with a scratched lens.

Cheapish construction, but stands up to abuse. I guess what I mean is that this is a well built lens cap, but a stock one from nikon or canon would obviously be better.
Snaps in well, easy to use. I like it.
There is also a slot to attach a strap, so you can secure the cap to the camera or your wrist and be sure you don't lose it. I don't use this, but I can understand how useful this would be to some people, and I don't remember the description mentioning it, so I felt I should.

This item works well - it fitted my Canon lens and is easy to operate with the two finger depressions. Cheaper than the Canon versions, especially since I keep losing the darned things!

Normally a lens cap is not something that you can say much about, but I really like this one. My Canon G12 point and shoot can accommodate an extension tube for attaching filers; I bought this to protect my filters when I am walking around with this arrangement on the camera. The lens cap is well made, is very sturdy, and has both inner and outer release points. I like this far better than the lens caps that came with the Canon lenses I use on my DSLR and I'm thinking about buying more in other sizes if available.

I'll say, I'm THOROUGHLY disappointed in this product. It seems to have shrunk from what it should have been to what it is. Does not fit well. The fixed portion of the lens cap oddly is way too small to fit into the threads. They threads are industry standard, why is the cap so small? I kept looking at the cap to make sure I'd been sent the correct one. Yep, but it still didn't fit. Good design, though, if they'd just get the dimensions right.

I bought this cap to replace the Canon cap that came with the lens, as it had no inner pinch tabs. If you use a lens hood most of the time, as I do, you really need lens caps with inside pinch tabs, and these Zeicos caps fill the bill for a very reasonable price. It fits and holds on to the B+W UV filter on my Canon 24-105 f4L lens at least as firmly as the OEM cap does, and the inner pinch tabs offer enough grip to my fat-sausage fingers to get the cap on and off even under the lens hood. Build quality seems good. It may not advertise "CANON" to everyone that looks at it, like the OEM cap does, but I'll take function over looks any day. Highly recommended as a replacement or spare lens cap.

Stays attached to the lens better than the Nikon cap that came with it. I also like that I can attach/detach the cap with a hood attached to the lens. Just like the Nikon lens cap in so many ways, but 1/3 of the price!
