This battery does not last as long as the battery you get with the camera (just over half the battery life of the battery the camera ships with). It works well and will allow you to continue taking pictures until you get home and recharge.

I have had it for 18 months and well it still works what more can you ask for out of a battery.

I bought this for my Canon PowerShot camera. I take many many pictures (my husband would say "too many") and I knew that I would always want to have a spare battery so that while one was being recharged, I could still take photos. I have the stock battery that came with the camera, and this one. I wrote on them so I could tell which was which. I've had the camera for over a year now, and had these batteries as long and I can't tell a difference in performance or battery life. I've been very pleased with this battery.

Being used to ordinary rechargeable batteries I thought having a lithium battery pack was going to be a havoc. Recharging often, trouble finding plugs for the charger when traveling, etc. This was the main reason I was hesitant to get my Canon Power shot SD990 IS digital camera. But on the contrary, apart of this excellent camera, I am positively surprised of how much longer the battery charge last compared to the average rechargeable batteries. I have not yet exchanged the first battery since I bought my camera one month ago. It is still going on after one month of good use. I purchased a spare battery since I calculated that with the two of them one has enough power to keep the camera going for a long time in case of a vacation abroad. It is also convenient because the spare occupies little space in any type of luggage.
