1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware! Read before you buy this product!
I fell for the positive reviews (and the low price) of this flash cord and purchased it instead of the more expensive Nikon cord. It worked like a charm, too, when I tested it out. However, the first time I used it - photographing a wedding - the Zeikos ZE-OCSCN failed during the ceremony. What's worse, the cheap lever that locks the unit onto the hotshoe was stuck in...

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews, accompanied by detailed videos, can take the place of first-hand experiences that are often lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and try to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and the video at least entertaining. If there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nicely Made, August 16, 2010

I am a wedding photographer and already have two Nikon branded cords but I needed another so I decided to give this less expensive brand a try...

I was nothing short of amazed at the build quality, expecting to get a flimsy cheaply made product but instead received a well made, solid accessory.

Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars tricky description, May 19, 2011

In the description it says 38 inches long. Well yes you can get the 38 inches if you stretch out the wire until it's flat (and of course risk to break a wire inside) but the real maximum length this can have is probably 10 inches (if you stretch it more than that and you flash is on a light stand or on the table or elsewhere, it will fall off due to the cable tension).
other than that it does what it's suppose to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great price for a wonderful product, April 12, 2011

Don't be fooled by its low cost, this Zeikos off camera cord is an extremely well built product. The cord is very high gauge cable and feels very nice. The cable is slightly stiff but after a bit it starts to feel even better. For the price I recommend you buy this. I have a Nikon cable as well, and although the Nikon cable does feel better right at the start, there really is no difference in function. This cable is an amazing value and I would not hesitate to pick another one up. I've been using it for a couple months now and it just feels wonderful. The hotshoe also has a 1/4mm hole on the bottom which makes it able to be mounted on its own tripod or a flash mount without a cold shoe. This product is simply amazing and well thought out. Also I noticed ZERO movement between the hotshoe and my flash, nor any between the camera's hotshoe and the receiver part.

Recommended buy, I am extremely satisfied by the quality of this product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as good if not better than the Nikon SC-29, January 4, 2011

I purchased this flash sync cable as a REALLY cheap alternative to the overpriced Nikon SC-29 cable. This cable is built really solid, it is thick and well made. While it is a little short (only 3') it will sync perfectly and extend full i-TTL/TTL functions with your Nikon flashes (personally I use the SB-600 or greater). I highly recommend this cable if you can't afford the Nikon cable any day.

I've owned three different flash sync cables, and this is definitely the highest quality of them all. The cord is nice and thick, and the tripod mount on the bottom of the extension is a great touch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, April 27, 2011

I bought this and have only had it a few days but it works great. No syncing problems. I did have a small issue but figured for the cost it wouldn't be worth returning. I'm using this with the opteka fb-10 camera flip bracket like the other review says. The piece that connects to the flash and the flash bracket broke...but I took the plastic piece off of the top of the bracket and used the screw used to mount the camera to the bracket to screw the cord on. So I was very pleased that the cord had a screw hole in it. That saved me some trouble. I had an extra tripod screw and that's what I used to screw the camera into the bracket or you could always buy a thumb screw from Menards and cut it to fit. Other than that small issue I think it's well made. I'm not sure how the Nikon brand cords are made but I think screwing it on gives me more stability and piece of mind :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as good as the SC-28 or SC-29 for Nikon, March 23, 2011

If you are in to "off camera" flash, then this cord (or a couple of them) will come in handy in getting your off camera flashes to "see" your commander. I connect two of these together to get maximum footage for stretching the Nikon SU-800 off my camera hot shoe and on to another light stand. This way, I can use flash "behind" my subject, and not have to be so "line of sight".

Works as intended... its a little stiff, but will ease up as you use it. This is actually very well built for the money. The anti kink and bend points are well reinforced, the cable itself if of decent gauge and the sheath feels durable.

What's worse, the cheap lever that locks the unit onto the hotshoe was stuck in the "lock" position, and I had to pound it with my hand to remove it from my Nikon D700. The hotshoe survived the trauma, but I had to finish the wedding without my flash bracket and with the SB800 directly in the hotshoe (meaning extra time in Photoshop removing shadows). Not only that, but I missed several shots the client wanted. Weddings don't stop for equipment problems!

Sure, the Zeikos flash cord is much cheaper than what Nikon offers, but if you're a professional photographer or just an amateur who wants to be sure to get all the shots, you may want to think twice about buying this cord.
