Biography

Edgar Froese and his Tangerine Dream bandmates looked into the avant-garde and found krautrock rhythms and smooth textures. 1974's Phaedra was a groundbreaking ambient LP, released before Brian Eno had even coined the term.

Tangerine Dream released their first album Electronic Meditation in 1970, but they were unable to buy instruments that had the sound they wanted - so the album was played partly… Read more in Amazon's Tangerine Dream Store

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, October 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Zeit (Audio CD)
I listen to this CD a lot, especially at night, but also sometimes at early dawn. Very inspiring, extremely meditative, way ahead of its time. A true metaphysical masterpiece that will always remain a 20th century classic (see also my review of Atem).

5.0 out of 5 stars Space Drift Bliss, April 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Zeit (Audio CD)
This album may not be considered Tangerine Dream's best work, but for fans of ambient music, this is certainly an early masterpiece. Unlike a lot of electronic music (including their later work) this album has a very appealing organic quality. The pieces sound grown, rather than arranged or orchestrated. If you are a fan of such works as Brian Eno's Descreet Music or Music for Films, this album will fit nicely between those two in your cd changer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Droning, February 9, 1999

I really do like Tangerine Dream, but not this album. It's too long and too similar. While Underwater Sunlight is one of my all-time favourite records, this is monotonous.
