5.0 out of 5 stars My Zelco Portable Coffee Maker is Great! No more Bad Hotel Coffee for me
Customer Video Review     Length:: 4:51 Mins
I love my Zelco Brisk Brew Coffee Maker. It's the perfect solution for individual coffee while traveling around the world. I am a coffee fanatic and have tried immersion heaters, instant coffee (yikes), travel bodums and more for making coffee in hotel rooms. I waited 5 years to buy this and never could justify until last week.

3.0 out of 5 stars tiny in every way
The Zelco Brisk Brew is the tiniest coffeemaker on the market. I looked for weeks in the stores and never found anything smaller or more convenient to fit in our luggage. It really comes in handy in a pinch. The only problem is after you brew one cup, you have to wait for it to cool off( about ten minutes) before you can brew another one. It's great for a single coffee...

I ordered it from Amazon and is a must have for the coffee lover. In the video I show you what comes in the box and how it brews (no one showed me so I am showing you!). The concept is very similar to making your own Keurig k-cup in that you fill a small basket with your own coffee and the hot water passes thru for your own personal cup of coffee. It takes a few minutes but the end result is that I can make strong coffee with my beans when I want and were I want. Enough said! cheers and don't believe the anti-reviewers as I am fully versed in coffee makers, espresso machines, coffee roasting and run [...]. I bought this from Amazon and so should you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Better as a portable hot water heater, January 8, 2006

Having now owned this device for three months, I found it to be a very useful device to have around if you need hot water and there isn't any or no way to get any. Its lightweight, very portable and compact. While listed as a coffee maker, it brewed very slowly and not all that well. But as a hot water heater, it served fantastically well. The typical 8 oz water will heat through the system in about 4-5 minutes, so little patience is needed. The device seem to overheat a bit so cool down period would be wise between uses.

There's an automatic shut off, the machine come with two plastic containers that fit inside the water hold. It also come with a small spoon. Machine often come on by itself even before you hit the "on" button, probably if you hit the button before you plug it in. I would recommended that you have everything set up before hand.

I used this device at work quite a bit and found it to be super handy thanks to the small size. The following products could be considered as tailored made for this device: Lipton Cup a Soup (sheer perfect for this machine), General Food International coffee mixes and various kind of hot chocholate brands. It also great for tea bags as well. I am not sure about brewing tea though.

Overall, this device come highly recommended for anyone who might like to have a hot drink when there's none available.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good little cup of coffee, August 29, 2005
This review is from: Zelco Brisk Brew Travel Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
I bought this for travel - some hotels don't have coffee makers in the rooms. It brews slowly, but makes a great cup of coffee. Very portable and easy to pack.

Funny that others have mentioned business trips to Las Vegas. I go a few times a year and unlike virtually any place else, forget about finding a coffee maker in the room. And I NEED my cup of Joe in the morning. I saw the reviews for the Zelco and today, I used it (after a first test) in a Vegas hotel. I'm quite happy. Now the first cup is a bit slow (the 2nd was as fast as I'm used to from in room coffee makers). Clean up isn't super easy in a hotel room (dump the grounds in the trash, not the sink) but overall, this little guy makes a very tasty cup of coffee. I may need to experiment with how fine I grind the coffee; I'm usually a whole bean guy. The unit is easy to use and packs up nicely. The included cup seems too small but it's not. I even think the small containers are very nice since I was able to go down for a real breakfast and steal, I mean borrow some cream for tomorrows coffee. This really is a pretty ingenious product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Start button, February 22, 2006

Except for the non functioning start button, this Travel Coffee and tea brewer is great. A start button is kinda essential though - in my experience with three Zelco's, the button just doesn't work.

This compact coffeemaker has been the best gift I ever gave my husband! He cannot function in the mornings without his cup of joe which can pose a BIG problem while traveling as most of the hotels we stay at (Vegas, Europe, S. America) do not supply a coffeemaker in the room. In order to save myself from his morning coffee withdrawals while on the road, I set off to find a coffeemaker that was compact, sturdy and would deliver a good cup of java. Voila! We've had this unit for over 3 years now; have taken it all around the globe with us (using a converter) and it still performs flawlessly. It is an amazingly compact, all-inclusive machine. Just add your favorite ground coffee (hubs brings his favorite-Kona!)and water. It does take a bit of time to brew a cup of coffee, but hubby uses this time to shower and his coffee is waiting for him when he's done and clean-up is as simple as dumping the grinds and rinsing everything out. At first, I thought the machine a bit pricey, but the money and time saved in not hitting up a Starbucks, etc. is well worth the cost, especially if you travel as often as he does. These days, the suitecases don't leave the house without the Brisk Brew! He tells me all the time how it's the best gift I ever gave him! Thank You Zelco!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Hot Water during travel, April 4, 2006
This review is from: Zelco Brisk Brew Travel Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
We used this while traveling overseas - mainly for heating up water. We were able to make tea, hot chocolate, instant soup, oatmeal, etc. It was great!! It's a very compact little machine that makes hot water (or coffee) straight into a little cup that it comes with (which nests on top for storage).

4.0 out of 5 stars Briskbrew is a reliable compact coffeemaker, March 8, 2006
This review is from: Zelco Brisk Brew Travel Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
I've had my Briskbrew for about 6 years, and have carried it with me on my frequent trips-- over 35 countries since I have had it, many more than once, and numerous stateside trips. Since having coffee first thing in the morning is NOT an option for me, this little guy always goes with me unless I know for sure I have a coffee maker in my hotel room. Works great on all voltages (makes coffee in half the time on 220-240v). Takes a little experimenting to get the brew strength right, and yes it gets hot and takes a little time to cool off between brews (I make two morning cups). Make sure you have water in it when you plug it in, the button gets pushed in travel. I keep thinking it will quit, but it keeps on working. I will definitely get another when mine eventually dies. Easy to use, dependable, compact. With this and a ziplock bag of my favorite brew, I'm ready to go.

i went on a 2 week cruise... the though of drinking ship coffee was distressing... so...i bought the zbb. with the zbb and my personal stash of peets coffee...well...i was in cruise heaven... it doesn't make a huge mug of coffee...but enough to quench my thirst for a good cuppa joe... i'm not particular about a spotlessly clean coffee basket...so...its easy to rinse out and brew a second cup quickly.
