Orphaned at birth, Bruce was adopted at 6 weeks old on the anniversary of his new parents' wedding - childhood sweethearts who were married for 61 years. A gifted and talented athlete and student, his 'other' life experiences hedged the edge of reality as we know it. His urge to merge with the unknown is remarkable, to say the least, yet his skeptical science-minded nature has kept him humble.
The first profound personal experience was an NDE at 18 during a meditation, where he was asked if he was willing to die for what he believed in... after a "Yes" he was taken into the Light and beyond. His life has been further complicated (he says 'imbued') with 'contactee' experiences that began as a young boy a decade before, expanding his thoughtmosphere beyond many temporal realms. He works to make sense common in his own life, reflecting congruence with others.
'Zen' was adopted after a unique set of circumstances occurred. He says he was with a friend talking late one night after a full-moon meditation in June of '88. Their conversation fell quiet and he asked the question internally (silently), "Who am I?" His friend responded verbally, "You are Zendor." After much consternation Bruce used the name as a subtitle on One World, a television show he hosted beginning in 1990. The crew started calling him 'Zen' after about a half-dozen shows. It stuck.
Life and the quest for connection created opportunities for deep self-reflection and professional development; acquiring ministerial certification, an MBA in project management, MA in Organizational Management, Secondary/Post-Secondary teaching as well as hypnotherapy and transformational life coaching certifications. He has coached entrepreneurs and small business owners in business plan development, social media marketing and professional development; personal development facilitator on the fly, and by appointment.
His professional career has spanned numerous industries including aerospace, education, health/wellness, special events and even community television shows. He was the Phoenix IONS Community organizer in 2009 and 2010 President-Elect and Conference Chair for the Valley of the Sun Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD). 'The Shift-Challenge to Change: removing liabilities, limitations and excuses in the workplace' was the theme for ASTD's conference.
Zen currently lives in Arizona. He continues to be active professionally, supporting co-working and incubator space and advisory board development.
