I started tangling a few years back and I have not stopped since. I have all the Zentangle books and collected many patterns and works of art on Pinterest. I know that there is bickering about whether this is plagiarized or stealing from the original creators of "zentangle" but like anything else (Starbucks, Caribou, Dunkin Donuts, Gloria Jeans, etc.) new versions will be created. So is it stolen? No. This book is different from the others and I did not see any plagiarism in this book compared to the other books on zen-doodling, doodling, zentangling, zendalas, sketching, drawing how-to books, etc. But if you really want to get upset about it, then don't buy it.

This book offers: many colored pics, shading, mandalas, color wheels, texturing, using ideas from nature, fabrics, mixed media, enlarging, alphabet doodling, 3-D art, etc. There is a wide range of topics but nothing is covered in dept except maybe for the mandala section. If you just like to collect books on this kind of art or your a beginner, you should find something neat in this book.

First of all, there are many Zen art books out there, and the author certainly did not plagiarize anyone. Further, Zen art and mandalas have been around since the 9th Century: the earliest known mandala is a copy of Ryôkai Mandara (from China) which was brought to Japan in 859 AD. ZEN DOODLING is full of wonderful projects and ideas, and will really give you a good grounding in Zentangle basics. The object of Zen doodling is to let your mind wander free so you can create wonderful images by relaxing/meditating and tapping into your subconscious. This book will certainly help you to accomplish this. It covers many kinds of Zentangles including mandalas (round Zentangles), plus how to come up with new ideas for your doodles, and even basic color theory. Further, it has a really good price of just $12.99 for a huge amount of information and 128 pages. I see that some of the other books are $16.99 for just 52 pages. ZEN DOODLING will really help get you started on making your own wonderful Zen art creations. Plus, you will learn how to focus and relax while you create.

This book has a great wealth of information!! From free-hand doodling to the methods of Zentagle and their applications, this book covers a vast variety of inspiration. It also has a wonderful chapter on Mandala's as well. It contains many ideas for utilizing these experimental techniques (ie.patterns, collage, and print-making) to apply to journaling, and greeting cards, as well as doodling on glass, china, and fabric, just to name a few.

There are so many Zentangle books out there and I think this one covers many things that others do not. I probably have 10-12 books on Zentangles and rate it in the top five.

I own ALL the Zentangle, Zen doodle, art doodle... books out there...literally. I collect them and I love most of them. I can see why some people say this one overlaps with other books, has some of the same, or even copied or stolen ideas in it (?...dont they all have some of that?), but I still enjoy it so very much. Its beautiful and inspiring, it brings me joy to just flip through the pages, and it always makes me want to pick up my sketch book, pens and colored pencils and start drawing.

This book was great on ideas. I found some zentangle patterns that I haven't tried and I enjoyed this. I liked the way color was used.

I was always doodling in high school. Then I doodled all the way through college. Now I doodle in bored (I mean board) meetings.

I've enjoyed looking through this book for fun ideas and inspiration. My 14 year old son has enjoyed looking through it as well.

You can use it for just ideas or if you are a novice doodler, there are step-by-step directions on working a design.

Well worth it for a gift, budding artist or just for your own entertainment.

It's definitely not zentangling in the true sense so I feel it is accurately titled. It has some fun ideas on how to doodle in different ways and on different objects, which is why I bought it.
