4.0 out of 5 stars An essential piece of the puzzle, January 31, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Zen Talks (Audio Cassette)
For those who are not familiar with Shunryu Suzuki, this tape may not be helpful. For those like myself who chronically read "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind", this recording of Suzuki's lectures is a fascinating piece of the puzzle in the mystery. Listening to his halting, lapidary but sometimes humorous speech, I got an unusual connection to the real person and got an inkling of why he viewed "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" as the understanding of his disciples - not as his understanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Words for everyone..., June 9, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Zen Talks (Audio Cassette)
Unlike the first reviewer I would humbly suggest that these tapes are for anyone on the spiritual path. They are 'pure' in the sense that they do not relate the listener to a particular 'way', but to 'the way. In soft, gentle, thoughtful, and often humourous terms Suzuki Roshi becomes a teacher for everyone. You will listen again and again to his calm and peaceful vision for all of us.
