Beautiful, poignant music!,

I know comparissons can take away from the individual nature of music, but for anyone who hasn't heard Zazie, I would say she is like a French Ani Difranco/Tori Amos hybrid. Like Ani, she has very clever, powerful lyrics, with plenty of double entres and "jeux de mots." Her next album, "Made in Love" is more political, but "Zen" still has awesome lyrics, alternating between sweet, ironic, and biting. You'll probably enjoy this album most if you speak French, since the lyrics are so important. Her actual musical and vocal qualities are more like Tori, but again this is just to give you an idea is you have never had the pleasure of listening to her. A great album!

I bought this CD almost 10 years ago and it is still one of my favourites. "Fou de toi", "Larsen", "Zen", and "Un point c'est toi" are great songs that never seem to get old. The high point of the CD is song number 6, "Dieu que pour toi". ( I think it might be called "Au Diable Nos adieux" on the North American release. This song is absolutely beautiful. You will definitely get more out of this album if you speak or at least understand French, because most of the clever lyrics will be lost on you otherwise. Even if you don't, though, it's still worth a listen.

Wow. I came to this CD after catching the clever, sexy video of "Un Point C'est Toi" on-line. That song is catchy and clever (and the video is hot), but Zazie is more than that--the whole CD is magnetic, witty, funky, romantic. She's head and shoulders above any American singer you might want to compare her with, not that you need to. Just enjoy great French pop. As she sings on the opening track, Allons, allons!

Another beautifull french singer , Zazie gave a fresh new prespective of what European pop can sound like with Zen. She has this genuin female voice which make her songs sound as sensational as they do. Her lyrics are poetic and in a way humorous ( " a duck in the coffee !... " she sings on the tittle track ) . Pop teaser " Un Point C'est toi " and majestic rock ballad " Larsen " are some of the tracks you should pay special attention to . In conclusion "Zen" is a record easy to love and unfair to ignore.
