2.0 out of 5 stars A Selection form the Avesta, October 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Zend Avesta of Zarathustra (Paperback)
This 50-page book is only a selection form the Zend-Avesta, and NOT the whole book. Still, it does give one a representative idea of what the rest of the book probably holds. May be intertesting for someone into Eastern Mythology, but who doesn't want to get in too deep.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother, November 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Zend Avesta of Zarathustra (Paperback)
For the money, this is one of the worst books on the subject that I can imagine anyone [else] buying. It has the looks and feel of a pamphlet;it has NO historical/theological/mythological explanations, not even a preface. It is simply and only selections from the Avesta, with no explanation as to why these particular selections were chosen. If you are interested in Zarathustrian works.....this is NOT the book you want.

3.0 out of 5 stars Of course it's incomplete, October 1, 2004
This review is from: The Zend Avesta of Zarathustra (Paperback)
Only portions of this ancient text survived. This title should be considered in light of this fact. How can it be faulted for not including what doesn't exist? As for interpretations, the point of original sources is to be able to confront them directly, with out the interference of some other person imposing their thoughts. If you're looking for something that's already been digested, a critical work might be a better choice.
