The C27V22's flat, 27-inch, high-definition fine-pitch picture tube is capable of displaying the highest-resolution HD content material in either 1080i or 480p formats. The set's fine-pitch picture tube with Invar shadow mask renders an amazingly clear, sharp picture. A built-in 3D Y/C comb filter combines the adaptive digital processing of a three-line digital comb filter with 3-D motion detection, eliminating hanging dots and color noise on stationary images.

Picture in picture (PIP) lets you watch two channels at once. The feature imposes a full-color inset picture in a corner of the main picture. The set's 16:9/4:3 aspect ratio correction allows users to watch feature-length movies in their original widescreen format (16:9) or in regular TV format (4:3). Scan velocity modulation dynamically varies the scanning speed of the electron beam to create clear, well-defined images for the sharpest picture possible. Dynamic Focus ensures accurate side-to-side focus, aligning the red, green, and blue color beams in the center of the screen.

Caution - this HDTV has only one set of HD component inputs. Most buyers of HDTV will want at least two HD inputs jacks. One set will be used for the HD set top box (cable, airwave or dish feed - 1080i)and another for a progressive scan DVD (480p). XBox users would want yet another HD input option.

This TV does provide a second component input jack but the manual explains that this is for standard DVD input (480i). Why buy a HDTV unless you can use it to its full potential?

Great picture, good sound, but the set lacks in very basic connection options. Other 27" HDTV's don't have this problem.

Doesn't have a 3D Y/C filter (just a std 3d filter), also the RGB Input appears to be good for only 640x480@60Hz. Even so, pretty good picture and whatnot for the price, I decided to go with the C32V22 (same TV, but with bigger tube and 3D Y/C filter).
You can get around the limited number of HD component inputs with a basic video switchbox - these use RCA jacks, and if you look at your component cables, they have RCA connectors. I'm using one so that I can tune into a HD cable box and/or progressive-scan DVD player without unplugging/re-plugging cables, working just fine (so far).

Once you go HDTV you can never go back. It's true. And this HDTV is an excellent start into the world of high-end video. You could consider this the poor-man's HDTV.

Why buy this TV? Well for the price, you can't beat it-a typical 27-inch flatscreen by Sony or Panasonic will cost you ... What do I get for that extra [money]? A world of difference. Quality that is simply mesmerizing.

The major benefit of going this route is progressive scan mode for game consoles (Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube); DVD players; and HD cable. You get only one HD input, but that's easily solved by getting the JVC component switcher..., which gives you the option of inputing 3 progressive enabled components into the HD input on the TV. And you also get a VGA input (same as on a computer monitor)-so yes, you can run your Sega Dreamcast or other VGA enabled components into this.

All I can say is that I am very happy with this purchase. An excellent upgrade for a decent cost (once you factor in cable upgrades, extended warranty, and the switch box). Plus it doesn't have the bulk of those large projection-based HDTVs (only weighs 100 lbs.)
