Nice Tv except if you plan on playing a DVD using the component video inputs and your surround sound receiver. There is a delay in the video. Its like your watching and old Bruce Lee movie the lips move then you here the sound. It is most noticable when you use the TV speakers and your surround system at the same time. There is an echo first the sound goes through the TV then your system. I did this by accident the first time its pretty weird. There doesn't seem to be a problem when using the s-video input. Maybe a slight delay. This TV is fine if you plan on using the TVs speakers only. I asked Zenith about this problem and there very vague answer was "Thank you for your e-mail. That's a compatible problem between the unit and the surround sound". Be careful Home theater buffs.

I just bought this tv, C36V23 yesterday, and I must say I am more than happy with it. I shopped around for several weeks, looking at all kinds and brands, LCD, Plazma, Flat Screen, HDTV ready, integrated etc.. First of all, I must say that I hardly ever stray from Sony when it comes to TV's infact this is my first non-Sony tv and I am very happy with it. It comes with the HDTV tuner built right in, which is a nice feature, it picks up off-air digital channels and hdtv broadcasts beautifully, regular analog cable isnt the best quality picture, but that is expected and normal on all tv's. I cant wait to get digital cable or directv, I couldnt imagin all my chanels being as clear as the off air ones that i get now. It is very easy to use, i figured out and set it up in no time without even looking at the manual. I like the look of Sony's on screen display a little better, but the Zenith is very nice also and all in all had the same features if not a little more actually, it had an excellent picture and great style. I haven't experienced the delay problem the other writer mentioned in the audio and I do use component video cables with my progressive scan dvd and it sound and looks fantastic. Overall, I would reccomend this tv to anyone who wants a great package deal, easy to use and if you shop around, you can't beat the price for the quality.

Don't buy me,
This review is from: Zenith C36V23 36-Inch Integrated HDTV TV (Electronics)
This is a terrible purchase and Zenith knows it. I originally paid over a thousand for this TV. Within 3 months a purple haze formed in the background, back to the shop. Within the next three months the haze was back, apparently something was loose. Within the next six months the TV began to emit a squealing sound at random moments and it still does. I've told Zenith about it on three separate instances, all very early on within the customer experience. They say they're a six sigma company yet don't seem interested in the feedback? I had a Sony 27 never a problem with haze or sound. I'll never buy a Zenith again.

I decided to try the Zenith model when we replaced our Sony - not because it wasn't working fine, but because it could not handle our newer "accessories." I did not check this review site but saw this model in the store and liked the quality. This Zenith lasted six months and one day would not turn on. Was then in the shop for 3 months while they replaced the entire board. Now is back, but not the same. With an expensive antennae system, the TV cannot pick up local channels not offered through cable. The old Sony has no problem receiving them. ...local[store] has been horrible to deal with, the only thing that saved us was the corporate office after working hard to find someone there. The 1 star rating I found here is appropriate.

DON'T BUY ZENITH OR LG,

This review is from: Zenith C36V23 36-Inch Integrated HDTV TV (Electronics)
Prior to buying the TV we had a 27" CRT TV that lasted 19 years. So we decided to buy a new TV since it was getting old. So in 1/17/2004 we bought a 40" Projection TV with a 2 years extended warranty. The TV has been performing great and we have been very happy with it until just last week when we noticed "blue shadows" all over the screen.
After looking over the manual and adjusting the convergence, no success. To fix this TV outside of its warranty will cost over $1,000 dollars, and with prices on TV's dropping it makes no sense to send it in for repair. It has basically become a disposable TV. We are very disappointed that our TV has only lasted 3 years. I'm sending it to Goodwill. I'm very disappointed that Zenith will not stand behind their products. My only mistake was not researching Zenith TVs prior to buying since I had full faith in the brand. I found other people on the internet with the same exact problem !! I'm sorry to say this was my last Zenith TV. Be careful !! Zenith is owned by LG, so LG TV's will also be of the same low quality. |
