5.0 out of 5 stars Great but had problem
Great TV for price. Also you can replace the bulb which is a selling price as the plasmas have a limited life span. Problem I had is that 4 to 5 pixels went bad immediately upon receipt giving me a large green dot on the screen. Zenith will not replace unit with a new one, I requested, and I have to get an entire new light chasis installed which is the optics and the...

I have had this Zenith model for over a year now and have been happy with it up until now. Several weeks ago, the picture developed a blue streak about the size of my forearm. I contacted an authorized Zenith service center and found out the problem is not uncommon. The part to repair has to be replaced in its entirety and costs over $1600. I verified this was the same story at two different service centers. I contacted Zenith to raise a stink and THEY WILL NOT stand behind the product once the warranty expires. So consider this a warning !!!!

Great TV for price. Also you can replace the bulb which is a selling price as the plasmas have a limited life span. Problem I had is that 4 to 5 pixels went bad immediately upon receipt giving me a large green dot on the screen. Zenith will not replace unit with a new one, I requested, and I have to get an entire new light chasis installed which is the optics and the main projector to correct the problem. As such TV is in shop for 2 weeks or more. I am not too happy in how Zenith handled this but otherwise the TV itself is a great and versatile unit.

1.0 out of 5 stars BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK, January 1, 2005
This review is from: Zenith D52WLCD 52-Inch LCD Projection HDTV-Ready TV (Electronics)
I have to agree with the last two people - the ones below that, I promise I think are Zenith employees / upper management leaving false `good' reviews. Seriously, do NOT purchase this TV, or if you are goofy enough and choose to ignore this, remember this review/post once YOU are the one writing a similar one. I have had mine for a little under a year. I experienced the usual quirks with this model, such as the lengthy turn-on time, blurry screen unless you personally adjust contrast & sharpness, etc. - I expected that because I read on it a little before I bought it. What I did NOT expect, was the image burn!!! I mean, after all, it is sold as an LCD TV!! I mean, for heaven's sake, even the name says it: LCD52 ... anyway, after a few months of use, the screen began developing a long blue streak across the middle. At first it was only discernable when switching channels, etc. THEN, the blue streak began getting bigger, and WORSE ... images from everything else imaginable began burning into the screen in a matter of minutes (without exaggeration). I have just contacted the Zenith customer service, but thought I'd research this problem a little, and came across this site. I thought it very important to warn people just in case they are thinking of purchasing this TV. As I said at the beginning - your choice whether to heed or not. I wish you luck, wish me the same. By the way, we have opted to go back to using our old 60" projection TV because the image on this one is so bad. Right now it is just a pretty, pretty-useless box in the living room. Quite sad actually, especially when I think that we could have invested our money in another model that perhaps would not be doing this.

i looked for a widesrcreen that would fit my space requirements, and found it with my 52" zenith. at about 10" less deep than cathode type projection tv's, it fit my limited space. the picture is fabulous and i couldn't be any happier. it was delivered in perfect condition and on time.

I have had the same problem as the other reviewers. After 1 1/2 years, developed blue spots in corners and now a big yellow blotch in the center. Repair center wants $1800 to fix.

Update:
THIS TV WENT FROM 4 STARS TO 1 STAR! AFTER 1.5 YEARS SINCE I PURCHASED THE T.V. IT BEGAN TO DEVELOP A BLUE STREAK THAT CONTINUES TO GROW UNTIL IT COVERS THE WHOLE SET. ZENITH/LG WON'T FIX THE DEFECT WHEN THE WARRANTY EXPIRES. IT COST ALMOST TWO GRAND TO FIX, NOW I KNOW WHY THIS MODEL WAS DISCONTINUED! SHAME ON YOU ZENITH/LG! SHAME ON YOU!

1.0 out of 5 stars It was great while it lasted, July 9, 2005
This review is from: Zenith D52WLCD 52-Inch LCD Projection HDTV-Ready TV (Electronics)
This was my first big screen TV. I was very pleased with it, while it lasted. 15 months after I bought, it died. The repair shop said it will cost at least $1200 to fix it and even after that, it may not work.

This review is from: Zenith D52WLCD 52-Inch LCD Projection HDTV-Ready TV (Electronics)
This TV has design flaws. I've had mine in the shop twice now for a month because it never turns on (see other reviews). I can't wait to get rid of it (either sell it when it's working or take it to the dump). Be aware that Zenith is now owned by Korean electronics company LG so if you want customer service look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unless you want it on your wall, this is the way to go., February 3, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Zenith D52WLCD 52-Inch LCD Projection HDTV-Ready TV (Electronics)
Got it by the Super Bowl for my first HD game. The shipping company (Eagle USA) was phenomenal. They worked with me to make sure the thing got there on time (Thanks Alex!).

The TV itself is incredible. Out of the box and fired up in a couple of minutes. It's pretty light and easy to maneuver despite its size (make sure you know what you're getting into size wise, i.e. break out the tape measurer before you order it -- take it from a guy who didn't). The brightness and clarity are incredible and the RC and on screen displays are very intuitive and easy to work. It also has every input/output under the sun. The only downside (and it's very minor) is that it takes a few seconds to light up once it's turned on and a few more to brighten up, and the glare on such a large, polished screen is annoying in a bright room (obviously not unique to this TV). DVDs look incredible on it and HDTV is stunning. The built-in audio is pretty good, but I'm not much of a connoisseur when it comes to sound.

This TV lines up great against Plasma or LCD. As far as I'm concerned the *only* reason you'd get the latter is to hang the thing on the wall (and punish your wallet) -- for the cost difference you could add a few square feet to your house.

Zenith's got a winner here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Legal Action for a defective product?, March 16, 2005
This review is from: Zenith D52WLCD 52-Inch LCD Projection HDTV-Ready TV (Electronics)
Hello, I've had the same problem with this tv. The blue blotches and the yellow discoloration. My warranty did expire though Zenith did say they would cover the 2500 dollar part. That's nice and all, but I assume they are using the same parts that these tvs were initially built with. I expect it will work for about another year or so until I'm faced with having to shell out all that money to have it fixed again. I'm wondering if any legal action can be taken against Zenith/LG for manufacturing and selling a defective product? Perhaps it falls under some kind of product liability law? I Just want my money back and I'll be satisfied!!!
