The ZEP-100 Ruined My Life!,
By Drew the Gadget Lover (Telemarketer Heaven) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Zenith ZEP100 EZ Hang-Up (Office Product)
I used to be a productive member of society. But recently, I purchased the ZEP100, and now I find myself sitting by the phone day and night, just waiting for a telemarketer to call so I can press that magic button. I haven't showered, gone to the office, or brushed my teeth in weeks. My only fear is this device may work TOO well, and eventually I will not get any more calls. I hope I will still have a job.The ZEP100 actually exceeded my expectations (how often does that happen?). I assumed I would at least have to pick up the phone and engage in conversation with the telemarketer. But luckily, I have Caller ID, and luckier yet, the ZEP-100 will work even without lifting the phone from the hook. When an incoming call shows "UNAVAILABLE" on the Caller ID unit, I simply press the button. The phone stops ringing and the recording plays twice. And that's a key feature: Most calls are generated by a computer, which does not switch the line to a human salesperson until it hears a voice. By repeating the message twice, the ZEP100 guarantees that someone will hear the entire message, even though the first few seconds may be playing to deaf ears (the computer). Even if you don't have Caller ID, you need not have a conversation with the caller. If you say "hello" and do not hear an immediate response, you know you've been called by a computer. At that point, simply press the button and hang up (in that order!). My only very minor complaint is the chintzy strip of weak double-surface tape supplied with the device. It didn't stick very well to the caller-ID box. So I simply cut a larger piece from higher quality stock. My conclusion: If you dislike telemarketer calls, the ZEP100 is a MUST-BUY device. It's inexpensive and it WORKS!

worth every penny!,
By Shelley Gammon "Geek" (Kaufman, Texas USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

I bought one of these on a lark, not expecting it to live up to expectations. After trying it out, I went and bought one for every phone in my house and bought 2 for my parents as well. Now that I've registered my phone w/ the Federal "Do Not Call" list, I almost never get telemarketer calls anymore, but they do occur.
When you get a call from someone you don't want to hear from, simply press the button on this device and hang up. It beeps to get the person's attention and says, "Hello, this number does not accept calls of this nature. Please take this as notice to remove this number from your list. Goodbye." The beeping and the message repeat once and then hang up on the caller, freeing you to do other things. The red LED on the device lets you know that the automated message is still playing. When the person on the other end has hung up or your device has hung up on them, the LED light turns off, so you know it's safe to pick up your phone. The sound quality of the message is excellent. There are no tapes - just the message on an encoded chip. It's unfortunate that they didn't set up a way to put in your own message - that would be a hoot!. The voice is obviously from someone who does voice-overs for a living - extremely well enunciated and easy-to-understand.

Blast the Telemarketers!,

This review is from: Zenith ZEP100 EZ Hang-Up (Office Product)
Wow, telemarketers are annoying! I can't tell you how many times I get called each day from some outfit trying to give (sell) me insurance for a low-low rate, or how many "free" vacation trips I have won! I got "caller ID" thinking it would solve the problem, but it hasn't, neither does "anonymous call rejection." So here is a device that allows you to "fight back" at the telemarketers. It plugs right into your phone then you plug the phone line into it. Once your 30 second install is complete, you sit back and wait, it won't be long! Once you get that annoying telemarketer, simply push the button and hang up. They will then hear a nice tone and then told "I'm sorry, this number doesn't accept calls ..." This is the best thing since Caller ID! I liked it so much, I now have one on all my phones!
