Zenith ZPA-314 7" Wide LCD Portable DVD Player

We bought this for my 16 month old daughter. It rotates 180 degrees and folds down. Which is really nice for anyone that has kids. This prevents her from pushing all of the buttons. The picture is really clear and never skips even with a very active toddler. It comes with a remote which we never use. Overall a nice dvd player for a good price.

I decided to purchace a portable DVD player for road trips to NY city, driving for 5 hours gets boring. So at the store, saw this nice Zenith player for only 90 bucks, and excellent!

Now, having tested it out for a few trips, its a nice DVD player. Good layout, pictures looks fantastic. Adapters let you use it in the car or plug-in.

But there was one problem. Unless you have high quality noise reducing full headphones, or are in a quite place already, the low volume on the unit will be bad. How bad? Well, using it in the car, with basic headphones, with max volume. I could not even hear the DVD's over basic car noise with the windows up. The volume was just not close to being loud enough to use this in a car without high quality headphones. So I had to return the unit, and tested out some others which had good quality sound.

So, for the price, its a nice unit, but note before you buy that the volume is very low compared to other units. I would spend an extra 20bucks or so and get a higher priced unit with better sound.

ANYWAYS, FOLKS, THIS IS A GEM OF A TREASURE TO HAVE AND I AM ALSO THINKING OF BUYING 3 MORE!!!!

I bought this DVD player last Xmas for about $100, and it's still running fine and we love it - have found lots of uses: When out to eat, in the car on trips, kids take it to their room when they have friends over, when we want to watch different movies.

PROS: Price is awesome. Reliability has been great. Sound is reasonable. Picture is good. 7 inch screen is great for 2 people and OK for 3 kids. Controls allow you to adjust the brightness and color to extend battery life (awesome!). Has several other controls (menu, title, angle), but we don't use 'em. Also has a remote, but we don't use that either. Runs quietly.

CONS: Speakers are not quite as loud as some of the more expensive ones, but it's always been acceptable. Battery life has degraded a bit after use, but still we can get in a movie. The battery is easily removable, so I assume it can be readily replaced, but haven't tried.

I'm probably buying a 2nd one this year for Xmas.

We had been going back and forth on the idea of picking up a portable DVD player, but with our impending 16-hour drive to visit my husband's family last summer and our then 3-year-old, we decided to take the plunge.

I was hesitant to go with an unfamiliar brand name, but it was on sale and we got a free carry case! ;) So we went for it, and I've never regretted it. This DVD player had become a permanent addition to our minivan for a long time and was my son's best friend during the long trips into town for groceries every week or any time we had to go anywhere, really. Since then, it's been great to have around the house for every day use and we've used it several times while camping.

It's been all over the US, has been stepped on, knocked over, played with by a tough little 3-year-old boy, and is none the worse for wear. It's held up like a champ and is still performing like new. We've had absolutely no problems with it at all. None! It's been a really great purchase and I'm glad we picked it up when we did.

My only, very minor, gripe is that the buttons can be a little hard to push. They're not very sensitive so if you're reaching into a backseat from the front and can just barely reach the button, it can be a challenge because it requires a fair amount of force to push the button. Not sure why they made that so difficult, but the remote is great for that, too. All in all a great purchase. Recommended!!

We bought two of these years ago. The ZPA-314 model. They've been dropped, stepped on, had milk spilled on them, one had the DVD door broken off, both car adapters broke and by God, they both still work like the day we brought them home.

They both still have a great picture (once we wiped the milk off), all the speakers and jacks still work, and the one with the broken door still works once you push the door in place after inserting a DVD. My little one, now 5, has been using this for a few years and she's played with it like a Tonka truck.

I'd put this up against ANY DVD player on the market hands down. Picture quality, sound quality and durability.

My only complaint is I can't find a replacement car charger for them ANYWHERE. But we use the AC adapters and an inverter, so not a huge issue.

This item quit working after about 3 plays. Was already too late to send back to seller. Hope Samsung will cover repairs.
