Zoysia japonica grass seed is a warm season grass that has high turf quality, fine leaf texture, and dark green color. The Zenith variety is widely seen as an improved Zoysia grass seed. Zenith is a great choice for golf courses, athletic fields, and home lawns in both the southern and transition zones. It is a creeping grass that creates a very dense turf, and it is heat and drought tolerant. Zenith can be slow to establish, but it is more shade and cold tolerant than Bermuda grass, and it will form the most dense turf of any warm season grass. Plant Zenith grass seed in the spring once soil temperature reaches 70F. If planting in the fall, allow a minimum of 10 weeks for establishment before the first frost. Broadcast ˝ of the seed walking across the area north to south, and repeat a second application with the remaining ˝ of seed walking east to west. It is not necessary to cover the seed. Keep the seed consistently moist until germination occurs. Generally, the first mowing of Zenith is 45 - 60 days after seeding. Optimal mowing height is 1 ˝ - 2 inches.
