JUNK! this was the worst money I ever spent. I had active fleas in my basement (jumping on my legs), put this down thinking YEAH. The trap caught maybe one flea. The rest was all over me (and my pets). Called an exterminator. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. If you insist on trying, go to the dollar store and buy a night light and lint roller. Expose the sticky part of...

If you have a vacuum with a HEPA filter, vacuum every day and use this for overnight. Use Frontline from the vet, it's better than Advantage from the pet store. They are all I've ever used and found them to be completely effective for a small infestation. It takes awhile: you have to be diligent. And just before you go to bed, fling the sheets off the bed and grab the ones hiding there about where your ankles hit the sheets.

I've had one of these things for 15 years. Used it once that long ago and the problem completely disappeared and I never had another problem until now. I frantically looked at hardware stores for the refills, but couldn't find them, and was amazed to find them here. I bought two sets of refills just in case. These things are great: highly recommended, but you also have to vacuum daily for about two months.

UPDATE: Here is my complete guide to getting rid of fleas no matter how bad you have them. You have to do lots and lots of things to get rid of them, but you CAN get rid of them.

1. Get frontline from the vet. You aren't going to solve the problem without that, but it isn't going to be even remotely enough to solve the problem.

2. Get a flea comb from the pet store for about $3. The plastic ones work the best for a cat. Comb the fleas twice a day and then pull the flea off the comb quickly before they jump off and put them in a dish of soapy water, where they will drown. Your pet is a natural flea collector: thi will get rid of a lot of them, but not their eggs.

3. Get a spray called Zodiac FleaTrol at the pet store and spray it into your carpet and take you and your pet out of the room until it dries. It stops the fleas from hatching for about 9 months but does not kill them. It works, and works well, but 9 months later you have to spray again.

If you don't like the chemical option, 20 mule team Borax available at target or wal mart will actually kill the larvae in a carpet and is pretty gentle for people - it's a laundry booster. It will not kill adult fleas, so you basically have to just live with them for a month until they die. Sprinkle on carpet and brush in with a broom. Do not sprinkle on your pet.

4. Vacuum a lot. Every day if you don't use borax (if you use borax, you need to let it sit for a week). The brushes kill about 80% of the fleas. You don't actually have to throw the bag out every day, just leave the vacuum outside so that fleas that don't die will walk out outside.

5. Use these flea traps. They are not 100% effective if the infestation is bad, but they'll catch a lot of fleas effortlessly.

6. Before you go to bed, fling the sheets off the bed and grab the fleas where your ankles would be before the fleas jump off.

It's going to be about 8 weeks before you are rid of them, but you will be rid of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Catch fleas, flies, moths, fruit flies, July 12, 2007

I have used this trap for several years. I would give it 5 stars if it were totally effective for fleas, but it's like a band-aid for fleas. If you have fleas in the house, you need to be much more aggressive toward getting rid of them.........foggers are about the only things that really work.

But I have continued to use these traps as needed in the summer for flies and gnats (like fruit flies). The light attacts all sorts of flying critters, and once they land on the sticky surface, that's it! The sticky pad will actually last forever.......IF you don't mind looking at all those dead bugs!

Fleas all over the animals, in the sheets, carpet, drapes everywhere. I had to fog, bathe then put the dog and cat on oral flea meds from the vet that kills the eggs (Sentinel - but not the adult flea) and then I purchased these devices. It's been three years since the infestation and this product still gets the occasional flea from my indoor/outdoor animals. No more infestation, no more scratching all night long, so I would recommend this highly as a maintenance product but not as a total solution.

Expose the sticky part of the lint roller next to night light. If it catches more than two fleas great, if not you only wasted TWO dollars!!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money, March 4, 2011
This review is from: Zep #ONFT-1 Overnite Flea Trap (Misc.)
I purchased 2 of these at my local hardware store - they were a complete waste of money. I was trying to find the Raid version of this that plugs into the wall and glows with a green light. This is what the store carried. First it is light sensitive and I had to tape over the sensor so they would light up. Then the plastic cover for the sticky pad was actually keeping fleas from being able to jump on the the sticky pad. The second issue is that the bulb is an LED, great for energy saving, but creates no heat what so ever to atrack the fleas. I should have read the package with more detail before purchasing this. Don't waste your money. If you can find the Raid version it is amazing and works great. I can't find any where I live and had lost my others after many moves.

2.0 out of 5 stars Works but Not Effective, December 28, 2010

While the sticky pad had fleas trapped on it, it doesn't get anywhere near enough coverage given you plug it in along one wall but it doesn't work effectively for large rooms or whole house.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good in bedroom, October 5, 2010
By

I have not seen any effectiveness from this product as it hasn't caught a single critter, but that may just be that I did a good job with cleaning/spraying before using it. That being said, I cannot recommend this as a product to use in the bedroom as the "nightlight" is super-powerful and near blinding in my own opinion.

1.0 out of 5 stars They don't work., December 21, 2009
This review is from: Zep #ONFT-1 Overnite Flea Trap (Misc.)
I ordered these from Polsteins Home and Beyond and never received them. A friend had one and we used it. Nothing. They are basically a night light with a sticky trap. Not worth it. Home and Beyond has the WORST customer service. I would never order from them again. Ever!

4.0 out of 5 stars overnite flea light, December 6, 2009

This review is from: Zep #ONFT-1 Overnite Flea Trap (Misc.)
I purchased this summer 2009 and thought it worked pretty well. It caught many fleas and other insects I didn't know were milling around. It certainly is not a one source solution but it does help.
