About the Author

Since the birth of the personal computer, over 20 years ago, David Smith has been a high-technology entrepreneur founding several startups in Europe, Asia and the U.S. He has secured tens of millions of dollars in funding and led his technology-oriented teams through all stages of growth.

In the mid-1980’s David created one of the fastest growing PC clone manufacturers in the UK. As Apple World Marketing Manager for Apple Computer in the late 1980’s, he led the corporations branding and distribution efforts in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. As a technologist and software inventor in the 1990’s, he created the worlds’ first virtual tradeshow on CD-ROM, the first CD-ROM to be filled with paid advertising and the leading web browser and safety service for kids. His products have won critical acclaim all over the world.

An accomplished speaker, David has been invited to speak at international conferences in Europe, Asia and the U.S. He has addressed U.S. government congressional hearings and appeared on numerous radio and TV shows.

David has a BS Honors Degree in Computer Science & Economics from the University of Leeds and a Postgraduate Diploma in marketing from the University of Westminster, London. An avid landscape photographer, he moved to Silicon Valley, California from Europe in the mid-‘90’s where he now lives with his wife Michaela and two sons.

Here is a book that is extremely useful, creative, fun and informative. It will give you a real insight on what it is like to start a high tech company in Silicon Valley.
It puts what I know from years of experience into a visual road map for the inexperienced. If you buy it, it will be your road map on what to do and expect.

Learning how to reach an IPO is a dream, every entrepreneur would like to get to the top, not all them arrive. Dave Smith explains in an easy and understandable way, how building a company becomes a journey, some time with pleasure some time with pain, in any condition you always reach an end. From Zero to IPO is a reading material to know in advance how the roadmap for this journey is. You must read this material before you start the journey, then you will be aware of the different situations that you can face, potential dangerous situations can be avoided.

I am helping tenths of companies to reach their dream, this book has been an excellent reading to our companies in the TechBA portfolio to easy their journey
