5.0 out of 5 stars A surprise, May 25, 2001

I admit to being a fan of both Mr. Sakamoto and his co-writer on this project, David Sylvian. I balked at buying an import cd of a song about landmines but a local buyer for an independent music store convinced me to pick it up. My thanks to him for convincing me! The first track, all 18+ minutes of it kicks off with some samples merged with world music that would make Peter Gabriel envious. The kicker is the shift from all of that to David Sylvian being ushered in leading a choir of 30 some children....even Cindy Lauper manages to wander in with some guest vocals that don't seem out of place. The musically adventerous will not be disappointed.......

5.0 out of 5 stars A very very good EP for a trying times of ours..., September 15, 2001

Even though this EP certainly will reminds you of "We are the World", "Do they know it's Christmas" like songs.... it's still a very, very good EP. Especially recommanded for Sakamoto and David Sylvian fans.

I actually found out this EP via Sakamoto's own Web site Sitesakamoto... Very, very catchy melody... Just an over all A+

5.0 out of 5 stars The most valuable item, December 18, 2010
By
Masako Fujie (Neyagawa-shi, Osaka Japan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Zero Landmine (Audio CD)
This CD was produced with the cleat intention of propaganda against landmines, but the music by Sakamoto Ryuichi is rather lyrical as his music usually is, and the lyric by David Sylvian is simple. This music involves not only Chris Moon and chlidren in Mosanbique, but also many famous pleple such as Dalai Lama and Princess Diana. Since we remember her brave action against landmines, the music blends with beauty and sorrow, as well as anger.
This CD also contains different versions of the music. The first title is very dramatic and great, the second is lyrical with Sakamoto's piano accompanying David.
The message of the music is challenging, but what impresses on us by its gentleness is human love. I believe this CD has a lasting value for people all over the world.
