The most fun for the least disturbance on a motorcycle,
By
This review is from: Zero X Electric Motorcycle (Sports)
I bought the upgraded model Jan. 09. It is easy and light to handle with all the torque you want when geared to 40 mph. Wheelie popping power will last close to an hour. For serenity and relaxation, you can't beat a quiet ride on a trail through the woods, and it will last you close to two hours. I have come around a corner and surprised deer 30 feet away. It's that quiet. And operational cost is so low. It only costs me about a dime to have all of that fun. Recharges in one to two hours. And if you have a spare battery pack, you can switch out the old one (in five minutes) and ride for another hour or two while the first one is charging. No expenses for replacement plugs, or mufflers or tune ups. I have had no problems in the rain, the snow, or a couple big mud holes. And if I want to fly through the woods on some logging roads or fire trails, I switch the rear sprocket to their 61 tooth and have a top speed of 50 (which is plenty for me).
And for the people who don't like clutches, there isn't one. You just twist the throttle and go. If you can ride a mountain bike, you can ride this bike. You just don't have to pedal or push up hill, which combined with the speed, makes this a whole lot more fun.

These bikes kick a$$!,
This review is from: Zero X Electric Motorcycle (Sports)
I got one of these bikes back in December '08 and have had a blast with it. I originally wanted one to pack along with us for when we go camping as it has low weight, made no mess and was pretty much zero maintenance but it turned out to be such a kick in the a$$, I now use it for several things. I drive it to work daily, take it to the store for quickie runs and kick it's butt in the dirt whenever I have a hankering for it. With no noise or emissions it's perfect for camping and neighborhood runs. Thats not all either, I pack it up to the hills for serious dirt biking along with my buddies and it is as good or better for a lot of stuff. On tight technical trails it really shines, I can blow through small tight stuff with such ease it really is crazy!

Bought my Zero summer 2008, put close to 600 miles on it before the snow hit. Have taken it everywhere you would take a motorcycle in the hills of Western Montana. Since I'm the only Zero in the woods around here, rode with a lot of motorcycles, in the woods the Zero blew them away due to its agility and quickness.
Used it during hunting season, for hunting the Zero is deadly quiet....eliminated several coyotes who tried to figure out what a Zero was. The electric features have been talked about, but what's really special about the Zero is its forgiving nature. It has a level power band which means you can move at a crawl and then punch it without the usual lag, associated with motorcycles even new 4 strokes...Did more sightseeing with this bike because just riding it is addictive. This bike lets you completely forget about managing your motor and enjoy the ride. Really, comparing the Zero to a motorcycle isn't fair......to the motorcycle that is.

THESE BIKES ARE SICK!!!,

I am still in shock over my 09 X. (No pun intended) I love practicing wheelies in my driveway without pissing anyone off. When I hit the trails it is so easy to transport being so lite. You can even lay the bike on its side in a car without causing a bio hazard. I was a bit worried that the bike would end up being just an expensive novelty but that is not the case at all. My Bike has killer performance and is scary fast, worth every penny. I just went on an hour and a half trail ride with about 30% battery power left over!!! Amazon just became a better place.

I feel like a Hero on my Zero,

I own 2 other motos, 6 bicycles and the Zero X is the funnest of them all! I was really interested in the Zero and had been thinking about it for a year or so. In January I went down to SF to watch the Supercross race and on Sunday, Bryan from Zero met me at an OHV Park for a test ride. When the Ranger came to do the sound inspection with his decibel meter he said "fire it up". I explained that it was fired up and pulled a wheelie to show him it was "armed". He started laughing and refused to charge me the fee. After riding for an hour, I decided I couldn't live without a Zero. I live in Sun Valley, Idaho, kind of a "Tree-Hugger" place, and having a green, silent ride is a real asset when meeting other trail users. It really is a "jump on it and go" type of ride. It's become my daily commuter and then 45 minutes of fun in a vacant lot after work, while I wait for the snow on the trails to melt. It has the power and handling to satisfy any expert rider, and without a clutch or gears, and the light weight, it is also perfect for new riders. Silence is the future of off-road riding and you should get one now to prevent even more OHV areas from getting shut down due to noise. If I could give it 6 Stars, I would. Zero Emissions, Zero Noise, Zero Gas = Infinite Fun!

Zero X,

I purchased my Zero X earlier this month. It has been on black diamond trails at Hollister and other trails that will not be mentioned here. In all instances, the only disadvantage is that other riders, include bicyclists, cannot hear you coming behind them. Mine has the option of the converter box so that I may add lights and signals for street legal riding. This baby does not sleep in the garage, either. There are no fluids to leak and it is at home inside the house. New, inexperienced riders love it because it only weighs 150 lbs. It can be transported in any position, again, because there are no fluids to leak. This is the future!

Dad's cool with his bike,

I have had the Zero X for several months and I think it is awesome. The electric torque and acceleration are outstanding. Neighbors who see me stop and want to know about the bike. The best part is the reaction from my grown kids. They refused to let me get a Vespa, said it was not cool, but the Zero X passes the kid test. I've had lots of motorcycles, both on and off road, and this is the most fun of them all and the quickest off the line. I'm in Nevada and getting the bike made street legal so I can commute with it. The best part though, is off road on tight trails and over small jumps. The acceleration off jumps is great. I'm very happy with this this bike and enjoy talking with the people at Zero.

I have ridden offroad motorcycles and mountain bikes for years and had many great experiences on both. Yet as soon as I saw the Zero X electric motorcycle, I knew it was going to be something special. I immediately flew out to the Zero motorcycles California office to confirm my expectations and shortly there after became a Zero X owner. Now I charge my bike, lube the chain and take off right out of my garage. I have a track directly across the street from my housing development, riding faster and jumping further than I ever could on my mountain bike, yet without the noise, hassle and greater expense of owning a dirtbike. Suffice it to say, the Zero X is a dream come true. It's fast, light weight, easy to maneuver and simple to maintain. If you like riding, you will absolutely love the Zero X.

Everything You Could Want,

I'm a rep for Zero and it's great to see all these positive responses. I've had hundreds of people on the Zero and they ALL come away impressed. "This thing is electric, it can't really be all that," is what most people think before they get on it. They always come back beaming and stoked for more. The X really is all that.
Plus, it's an innovative, eco-friendly, American product that leads the world in its industry and has American support. The US needs more companies like Zero Motorcycles. |
