Book Description

It's been 53 turns after the legendary Commander Zero graduated as a Congie warrior. Joe, now a battle hardened veteran, has spent his life surviving wars he had no right to survive. Yet his real test is coming: New forces are conspiring to start a great war like the universe has never seen, one that would rip apart the very fabric of Congress. Joe is conscripted to fight the very war everyone has been fearing since the rise of the Dhasha—the war against the legendary Dhasha Vahlin. Unfortunately for Joe, at the same time, other ruthless powers are conspiring to kill him before he fulfills the prophecy of the Trith.

To fight the Vahlin, a desperate Congress comes up with a tactic it abandoned millennia ago—the use of multi-species groundteams. Joe, now a Prime Commander, is given command of his own team of misfits and pitted against the Vahlin’s forces in a war whose casualties are millions-to-one. Can Joe keep his group of aliens from killing each other long enough to make them into a battle-ready team? Will he survive long enough to kill the Vahlin? Or is he destined to destroy Congress, as the Trith have prophesized about him?

5.0 out of 5 stars Be prepared for a complete mental takeover March 21, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ok so I have read this and the first book in this series. These stories are so intense it's like have an earth shattering orgasm entirely in your brain. Each of these books have taken me days to "recover" from, although recover isn't really what I want to do. My favorite thing about Sara Kings books is the fact that I can completely sink myself into her stories and experience all the sensations as if it was really written about me. The surprises and twists had my stomach in knots. I can't wait for more of these stories to come out. Ms King this story made it very difficult for me to focus on Earth today and I want more. I'm ready to put on the Zero powered glasses and see everything from his point of view. Please bring the next one as soon as you can.

Without giving anything away, I have to say that the major cast of characters and Zero's team will make you want to scream, laugh, cry and of course through a Takki through a wall. The idea of all these different species coming together was just as hard for me to fathom as it was for Zero when he found out. I'd say more but I really don't want to ruin the experience for you.

Excellent character driven stories like "Zero Recall" are not quick reads, not something to be finished in a few short hours. There is so much depth within this story it made me pause from time to time and just say damn, or to be more precise "NINETY HELLS".

Our hero from Book 1 is no longer the boy aka Zero. He is Commander Joe Dobbs of the Congressional Army, a legend, a CONGIE, now forcefully retired by fellow ground-crew member, Maggie. Retirement finds him some fifty-five turns later back on Earth in search of his elusive brother, Sam. But as those turns brought a transformation in Joe, he finds Earth has changed too. They don't want him back, people of HIS OWN PLANET despise him, in their eyes he is now the alien.

Retirement will be short; Zero is a pawn in a universal game of chess. And this time, his ground team won't be human. Instead, it's become a much more colorful team of what used to be the bad guys; Huouyt, Jreet, Baga, Ooreiki and Grekkon. Their mission is more than what it seems, as this unique team strives not only to complete their assignment, but not to kill each other in the process. These Battle mates are characterization at its best; they are DEEP, developing in unexpected ways as is the nature of Miss King.

What I loved and enjoyed most about this tale is how it evolved; strength, determination, honor and stubborn attitudes, their destiny's blending. A complex growth of true FRIENDSHIP takes root, creating bonds none of them would ever have considered from a life form different from their own.

If you think that you can predetermine where this adventure will take you, guess again. This one had me screaming like a Takki, raging like a Congie, as it changes more times than a Huouyt has patterns.

5.0 out of 5 stars Listen, you leafy furgs, read this book!!!! March 24, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Zero Recall is one of those books where you get to the end and you have to do a double take. Pieces of information fall into place and you're left wanting to read the entire book again (and maybe even the end of Forging Zero). As the author states, she hopes it will blow your mind, and it does.

It's not just the super, amazing, mind-blowing ending that makes this book rock though. The interaction between alien species is believable in its execution, and at times heartbreaking, at times hilarious.

I'll say one thing. Sara King really knows how to carry you along through emotional roller coasters. There are really low lows, and you think you will never recover. You never QUITE recover to fairy-tale-happpy-ending status. But you do find that it was all worth it. Because you care about her characters. They are real. They could be sitting next to you on the couch while you're reading, elbowing you at 2am, and saying, "Eh, eh?! Don't go to sleep yet, wait'll you find out what I did next."

This book is truly a masterpiece.

    5.0 out of 5 stars A warning! March 23, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
How can written words, work their way in to your brain, and take your mind to places unimaginable? I have had it happen before and it has been long wait. Most stories I can pick up, read, set it down, do something else, come back, and continue! WARNING!! A Sara King Tale will not let you do that! Once you open the first page you are captured. The Legend of Zero will have you on the edge of your seat, forgetting the work to be done, and eating peanut butter sandwiches so you don't have to stop reading. Sleep? When can that happen?? I had a panic attach as I finished book one! Oh NO! I thought I would have to wait the usual months or even years to get the next book. BUT!;It was right there waiting for me! Unimaginable. Parasite Publications, Sara King, Stuey and crew will stand the publishing world on its gang plank!

4.0 out of 5 stars A complex tale, masterfully done April 1, 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found the first part of this book to be slower reading as a bit more complex plot was being set up and new characters were being introduced. However, the story picked up and it became much more interesting to read and harder to put down. After finishing the book, you'll have to go back and re-read chapter one again, and then you'll go wow!
Sara King once again did a masterful job weaving a complex tale with many interesting characters, while throwing in a couple great surprises along the way. I really enjoyed the complex world building, as well as all the highly unique aliens and their very unique ways of self-expression and characteristics.

What I enjoyed best about this book was reading about a wildly, crazy-disparate group of half-dozen alien characters who have nothing in common who highly distrust one another at first, but come together along the way and not only learn to trust each other, but even admire each other a bit and at the end, actually become friends. I thought the way Sara King showed how this happened was masterfully done. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I look forward to reading the next books, to see how the story unfolds.

I have not been advised of a release date but I know that Mrs. King is working hard on getting it ready. Book 3 became so long she had to break it up into 2 parts so now it's Book 3 and 4 which makes it a bit more time consuming. I have a feeling though that once Book 3 comes out Book 4 won't be... Read More
