5.0 out of 5 stars reminder on zeroll scoops and spades
Just a reminder that the scoops and spades contain a fluid in the handle that transfers the heat from your hand into the scoop cup or blade. It will leak out if placed in the dishwasher based upon the lquid's properties and the nature of the seal on the end of the handle.

I've had mine for twenty plus years with continued good service.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice concept, but
It's an interesting idea, using internal antifreeze to keep the scoop warm, but the drawback is that it tends to melt the ice cream still in the container. Either that, or after extended scooping, it gets cool again, and doesn't offer the same melting action. I've pretty much tried all the scoops made, and the Oxo one has by far been the best one, due to its comfortable...

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Ice Cream Experience, November 25, 2000
By
This review is from: Zeroll Nonstick Anti-Freeze Aluminum Ice Cream Spade (Kitchen)
This is the ultimate ice cream scoop--the aluminum handle is filled with antifreeze to conduct the heat from your hand to the blade of the spade, helping the non-stick spade to slide easily through the ice cream. It makes even the coldest, toughest ice cream scoopable. I've had mine for years, and given almost a dozen away as gifts--and this from an ice cream enthusiast who has discarded several inferior scoops. Hint: Don't wash--just rinse after scooping and put it back in the drawer.

especially for those of us who make ice cream filled cakes! For this purpose, the goal is not to have a ball of ice cream, but a flatter sheet. This spade just whizzes through even rock hard ice cream without extra effort, and never freezes up so that ice cream starts sticking to it. Excellent tool. ...

Either that, or after extended scooping, it gets cool again, and doesn't offer the same melting action. I've pretty much tried all the scoops made, and the Oxo one has by far been the best one, due to its comfortable rubber grip, which really makes the difference when scooping out the well frozen ice cream. Also, the smaller size makes it easier to make it into a cup; a spade is okay for a plate, but if you do cones or cups, you'd have to do some manuvering to get it in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Spade to work Ice Cream, May 24, 2002

I work at cold stone. A place where we use spades to help customers custom make their ice cream. They are simply the best tools to use cause they are like it says...non stick. Amazing product. This is a must-buy!!

1.0 out of 5 stars It was great - until I washed it!, February 6, 2003

Worked like a charm until I put it through the dishwasher, and now it always exudes a fine black residue. Maybe some kind of rust? Can't use it anymore unless I want black grime on my ice cream. I have emailed the manufacturer to ask what's going on; haven't heard back yet.
