5.0 out of 5 stars BIG scoops
We own an ice cream parlor, where we make our own homemade ice cream. We've always bragged about "Enormous scoops - ridiculously good" but we had to put TWO balls from a regular dipper on the cone to make what we felt was a serious (5 oz.) scoop of ice cream. No more - the Zeroll 4 oz. scooper allows us to overscoop to 5 oz. in one ball, easy. It's HUGE and looks tasty...

3.0 out of 5 stars HUGE scoops of icecream
I bought this to replace my mom's "pampered chef" ice cream scoop that the liquid had come out of after the end cap had met with some corrosion... I didn't know what size to get, so I guessed. This thing makes HUGE scoops of ice cream! If you like big scoops, it is fine. I think I'd prefer more smaller scoops.
MOST IMPORTANT THING: I didn't think the liquid...

4.0 out of 5 stars Safe -- but don't use the dishwasher., December 29, 2006

Ice cream scoops like this one cannot be run through the dishwasher. I forgot once, and the scoop came out discolored. That's probably what "Dan from Utah" experienced. I replaced it, and haven't forgotten again.

5.0 out of 5 stars It will outlive you!, September 9, 2008
By
I have this 2-1/2 oz model (Zeroll makes 6 serving sizes) and I've been using it for over a decade. It really works well on frozen ice cream, as described. However, after a few years of use, the aluminum alloy tends to lose it shine and acquires scratches, etc. I use an aluminum wheel polish (from any automotive source) to buff it back to near pristine appearance every few years. I just polish the outside and handle; the inside of the scoop is suppose to have a slightly rough "brushed" finish to allow the ice cream to drop out easier. I'm certain this scoop will outlive me. Zeroll also offers an anodized/Teflon finish on all of their scoops, but when they get dinged and scratched, you can't polish those. Also want to add that the size "16" (with green antifreeze plug) produces a perfect dip of ice cream. I'm actually surprised that they make 6 sizes. I'd love to see them make one in copper.

5.0 out of 5 stars SMOOTH ICE CREAM SCOOPER, August 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
PRODUCT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED. SMOOTH DIPPING AND LARGE SCOOP. DO NOT PUT IN DISHWASHER. IT ONLY NEEDS A LITTLE WASH OFF. FEELS GOOD IN THE HAND. WATER ICE IS STILL A LITTLE HARD TO SCOOP.

MOST IMPORTANT THING: I didn't think the liquid inside really did the job of making the ice cream easier to scoop the way the other brand scoop did. I picked this one though because I noticed it was the same brand William Sonoma sold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ice scoop ever, October 9, 2008

This is the only ice scoop that works perfectly. Just be careful not to put it in the dish washer. That'll "kill" it right away - unfortunately we experienced this once...

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good scoop indeed, June 30, 2008

Easily the best scoop I've used and its ability to roll up hard ice cream is impressive. Scooping soft ice cream is effortless, and scooping hard ice cream can still require some effort. (It works great but it's not "magical".) Due to the way it's designed to work, it does seem to melt the outer layer of the ice cream that's been in contact with the scoop. It's best to not pick up the scoop until you're ready to scoop and then scoop quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great and simple ice cream scoop, January 2, 2012

We use this at our bakery and it is the perfect length to fit into a 5 gallon ice cream tub without scrapping the back end of the scoop on the other side of the ice cream tub and making a giant mess. It forms a good size scoop and doesn't have any "special" function that will just end up a breaking. This is the second scoop of this kind we have bought; it is sturdy and strong and gets the job done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Ice Cream Scoop!, August 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I think this is a terrific scoop and does the job it was intended to do beautifully. I have an older Zyliss scoop that the finish had started peeling off (probably should not have placed it in the dishwasher and I sure won't do that with this one) but my husband likes the Zyliss because he says it fits his hand better. So I guess if you are fussy about hand fit you should try this baby out before buying. I'm very happy with it and would buy again.
