Completely unknown movie (and that's a shame), July 7, 2009
This review is from: The Zeros (DVD)
This is one of those movies that I came very close to never seeing, but I'm so glad I took a chance on. I found it a couple of years ago at the bottom of a bargain DVD bin on a Post Exchange in Baghdad, Iraq, and it was literally the only movie there that I hadn't seen.
I've been espousing the merits of this movies ever since I first saw it, and I'll continue to do so. It's weird, but it's funny, and it's definitely watchable (unlike the weird-for-weirdness-sake David Lynch movies that the DVD case goes out of its way to compare The Zeros to).
I only wish I could convince more people to give it a try, but the tone of the story is 80s emo, not 2000s emo, and the market for this may not exist at all anymore. It was obviously a labor of love, and it shows in every sincere, darkly funny scene. I know this review reads like I'm gushing, and I guess I kind of am, since try as I might, I can't seem to get enough people to check this movie out.
