The human psyche is an interesting concept. Hope is a component of the human psyche. Out of hope comes vulnerability. Out of vulnerability comes the relationship of hunter and prey. Which brings me to this product. In a moment of weakness and late night internet browsing, I stumbled across this product. Intellectually, I knew it had no value other than the power of suggestion. Aside from a weak recommendation from a blow-hard radio personality, there was no sane reason to buy this. I stepped out of my usual skeptical existence and ordered it. A couple beers while browsing probably didn't help. On some level, I must have wanted to prove to myself that there really are predators out there. Or maybe I was suffering from a lack of self esteem and wanted to punish myself. Step one into the prey catagory.

It's clearly a product designed by slick hit and run marketing predators (in my humble opinion). The product consists of one 0.25" diameter plated magnet and a second 3/16" diameter plated magnet. Both are about 1/16" thick. You place the larger at a point on the back of your ear and the smaller in the front of your ear and exactly opposite the larger magnet so that they stick together. The magnetism isn't great enough to feel pressure so while accupressure isn't promoted by this company, it isn't a factor either. Instead, the manual says as follows: "Zerosmoke uses two bio-magnets which exert a magnetic field that stimulates the body's neurotransmitters and production of endorphins and other nuerotransmitters, helping to considerably reduce and inhibit the craving and withdrawl from smoking". Whatever. Bottom line is that the only people this product is going to help are the hopelessly suggestive and the predators that profit from selling to the suggestive. Unfortunately and in spite of not succumbing to such marketing more than 2-3 times in my life, buying this puts me in the prey category.

A few last thoughts:

If the concept of magnetic therapy is something you buy into, go to a hardware store and buy cheap magnets to use.

I didn't buy mine from Amazon but Amazon will probably make it easy to return if you still want to buy these. I purchased directly from the manufacturer. They have a 30 day money back offer. Interestingly, there was a 2 week shipment. If you buy on day one, receive the product on day 12-14, it seems logical that you might have a hard time getting your money back if you try the product as recommended by the manufacturer. One can only hope the Zerosmoke folks will honor the guarantee. I haven't tried getting my money back but will post my experience afterward.

Losing one of these means the product is useless. The magnets are incredibly light, small, hard to see and very easy to lose. Applying them requires finesse. If you do this leaning over sink, make sure the drain is closed. The magnetism is very weak so you may not even notice if they fall off. If they do, you'll probably never find both.

The profit margin must be astronomical. I'd guess around 1200%.

If you're having a hard time quitting smoking, there's no substitute for will power and peer support unfortunately.

I, too, became prey to the marketing world hunters. I bought this product from the manufacturer with high hopes after becoming immensely glued to the late night television commercial, which proceeded to make extreme claims of this ingenious product and astonishing effectiveness of these tiny magnets. The testimonials were effective. After trying the product, I came to realize that, possibly, I need to reduce the dosage of my sleeping medication. I must have been imagining things or misinterpreted the commercial and/or claims made. In fact, the only thing I found out is that the magnets, after being worn for about two hours begin to sting so badly that it certainly deters the mind from smoking... all you can think about is the pain on your ear. Then, once removed, all you can do is run for a cigarette to calm the nerves due to pain. All I can say is I wish I had been the one to invent this one for those as gullible as I. CHA-CHING!

This product doesn't really work very well. It is very uncomfortable to wear on your ear. It makes your ear turn red with pain after about 30 minutes or less. Hard to tell if it would really work, because of the pain it causes.
