This depenser works with most cereals we have tried in it, except shredded wheat. It crumbles some cereals a bit, but hasn't pulvarised any yet (teaching everyone to always turn the handle to the right helps minimize the grinder effect) It also spits some cereals around so I have been training my three, six, and eight year olds to hold their left hand like a shield to direct any errant cereal into the bowl as they turn the handle with their right hand. They have all got the hang of it and love using it. We often had two or more cereal boxes open at once and the kids are much better at using the dispenser than they ever were at rolling the cereal packet closed to keep cereal fresh. If you have a crew to get ready by eight in the morning like I do, any little gizmo that brings fun and enthusiasm to the morning routine is worth it. I wouldn't say its worth much more than I spent on it, but it works fine, keeps the cereal fresh, and makes us happy.

Good for some cereals ...,

This dispenser is nice in that it keeps cereal fresh and crunchy - much better than an open bag rolled shut.
However, as other reviewers have noted, it crumbles some cereals. It works fine with dense cereals like cheerios, any of the sugar puffs or small pebble size flakes. However, it does damage to bigger airier cereals like Crispex and Chex, crushing more than a few of the pieces. But that's only a big deal if you care about having whole pieces. Overall, I would recommend this if you're happy with the limitation and don't mind keeping the "airy" cereals in their boxes (or having them slightly crushed).

Excellent product. Minor improvement could be better.,

First time doing the review for Amazon, so I will do my best to rate the item.
This is excellent item. I've purchased two of these item for myself. My friends saw it and they liked what I had, so I've order one for them as well. I am using these mainly for the cereals dispenser for my family (2 adults and three toddlers). They do keep four different kinds of cereals (since I have two of these) fresh for weeks. The minor modification that I think really need is the dispenser wings should be four instead of six. Because it has six, only few of the cereals comes out, and some of the cereals (like Frosty Frakes and same kinds) do break apart as they come out. So I modified the wings to have three instead of six by cutting every other wing. This worked better, but the draw back is that the wings does not cover (close) the dispenser hole completely. But it works fine and it does the job. If the company made this product see my point and make the modification, they would save some $$ making this product and we as consumer can enjoy the same product at better price. Other that this, this product is great, and that why it got only four stars instead of five. I hope this helps.

Great for dry cat food,

I was a bit hesitant to give this a try, simply because I didn't see how spending $35 would be worth it when I could just have my cats' dry food bags be rolled and clipped for freshness for a lot cheaper.
But I am so happy that I purchased this dual food dispenser. First, it is incredibly easy to put together, and arrived in perfect shape. It looks as though it might be unsturdy, but so far it has held its ground. The overall appearance is very attractive, and looks a helluva lot better than rolled up bags! In terms of its utility, this dispenser is terrific! I can keep almost a full bag of cat kibble in each dispenser, so getting the kitties ready for meals is simple. A few twists of the knob, and I have just the right portion. I also no longer have dry food pouring out of enlarged bag holes, causing unpleasant, crumbly messes when the pieces I missed when cleaning up are accidentally stepped on later. Overall, this is a great product. It's plastic, but looks very sleek, and the chrome handle is a very nice touch that coordinates well with my decor. Zevro offers a similar dispenser that is specified as a pet food dispenser, but I think they're pretty much all the same thing. I picked this one because I wanted the two different containers, plus I liked the color scheme better, and it has worked out quite well.

Resonable Expectations,

I've seen a handful of reviews on this product, all of which are giving an innaccurate view of the actual product.
For what it is intended to do, it does... and does well. Portion control, eliminating boxes from cabinets IN EXCHANGE for counter space, and the goshdarned cool factor of this earn it the rating. "Boo Hooing" beacause something DESIGNED to use counter space, uses counter space is rediculous. I'm giving it five stars. To tell the truth, I would have given four honestly, but c'mon... balancing the plebians is necessary here... so five it gets. Does what it does, and looks good too!

we love this cereal dipenser, with 4 kids in the family it's great to limit the open cereal boxes and keep cereal fresh. I just wish it wish it came assembled--we followed the directions carefully but with one of them the knob got stuck the wrong way in the jar and ended up cracking the jar 1/4 inch. We put crazy glue on the spot and hasn't given us any trouble yet--I just wish it it wasn't so hard to assemble that part--our only complaint. Otherwise it works great and looks cool on our kitchen table--we've gotten lots of compliments--a great conversation piece also!

I thought it would be great for cereal, but I was wrong. When you turn the knob it crushes your cereal. Not good...

I bought this so my 9 and 4 year olds could easily get their own cereal in the morning, and also have easy access to a healthy snack later in the day. This is a great tool for helping kids do it themselves. Some of the Honeycombs get a little crushed, but I've found that turning the handle gently back and forth a little bit gets them out without crushing them. Reese's Puffs and Cheerios also came out without any crushing. You have to put the caps on the bottom when not getting the cereal out in order to keep the cereal fresh. Maybe this was in the directions, but I missed it and learned the hard way. But the kids figured out the caps easily and it's not a big deal for them.
