4.0 out of 5 stars
So far, so good, January 23, 2011

This review is from: Zhu Zhu Pets Elevator (Toy)
My son picked this out with his allowance money and the first thing we noticed was how easy it was to put together. My husband put it together, but he thinks an 8-10 year old would probably be able to do it alone.
Here is how it works: The Zhu Zhu walks up one tunnel and goes into the elevator where his nose hits a button that activates the elevator. The elevator only works for going up. To descend, it has to be pushed down manually, which could be seen as one drawback.
My son helps the ascent up the tunnel from time to time, but apparently one of the things about the Zhu Zhu pets is that they have a "random" element to their behavior. This toy kept my (5 year old) son occupied for several hours, so we feel like he got his allowance money's worth. The price also seems reasonable.
We are looking forward to hooking this piece up to other components of the Zhu Zhu "world."

I purchased this zhu zhu elevator for our 5 year old daughter when I saw how deeply discounted it was. Seemed worth adding onto her zhu zhu "world". It is a little finicky; it seems to work better with some hamsters than others but can't figure out the logic as to why. Sometimes the "lift" mechanism gets stuck too. When it does work it is a lot of fun to watch the hamster go in the elevator, get lifted up, then go down the slide.

We decided to order this to expand our family's "Zhuniverse" we got it for really cheap, about $5 on Amazon. :) It came in about a week and we opened it and attached it. The hamsters go through it w/ no problems, except occasionally the elevator didn't rise high enough and they got stuck. And if you're wondering how this works, the hamster runs through a tunnel and hits a trigger which carries it up. Then, it runs out and you have to press the carrot top back down. Very cute, affordable toy for your kids.
