Zhu Zhu Pets Add On Garage

I purchased this entire set for my 4 yr old daughter about a month ago and it is the greatest toy ever! Yes, the garage does fall apart and the doors fall off, but all I used was one piece of tape all the way around to secure the roof and since then there hasn't been a problem at all!! You can't even see the tape, and it is a very easy fix. I do recommend that you use the tape trick especially if you have little ones like I do. They just aren't as gentle as older kids and she tended to knock the roof off easliy. I do not find that the hamsters get stuck at all. Most people don't really understand how these little guys work. First and foremost you have to replace the batteries in all the hamsters when you get them home. The batteries are only for in-store use and it says so on the instructions and on the website as well. Once you change the batteries....wow watch these little guys go! Secondly you have to pay attention to the tunnel directions, again in the instructions and the website, otherwise they will not work correctly. Thirdly, they do NOT get stuck, they make their own little decisions...just let them go and see what they do! My daughter LOVES these and has played with them non stop since she got them over a month ago. For the price they are great! (Not on amazon though, look at toys r us or walmart, or especially ebay instead they have the whole set for a pretty good deal!)

My daughter was so happy to find this set at Walmart (for only $15). I quickly scooped it in our cart. Once home, I put the Garage together. Like most of the other Hamster sets, it is wobbly and falls apart easily (I'm thinking of using super glue). My daughter put a Hamster in the tunnel leading to the garage and let it go to the car and garage, but the Hamster got stuck in the car. The hamster's wheels were spinning and spinning, but would not make it through the doors. I followed the instructions, flat surface, loose garage doors, but it took 3 tries and FINALLY the hamster made it out of the garage 2 inches and then sped backwards very quickly to the garage. Okay, my daughter was then frusterated and resorted to pushing the hamster car around on the floor. Her friend came over and tried the hamster car on the kitchen floor (with out the garage). It would go forward 2 inches and speed backward 12-14 inches. Not much fun. My daughter and I are VERY dissapointedin this product. If you are looking for a fun Zhu Zhu hamster accessory try the Hamster Wheel (I found at Walmart too for $15), my daughter and I are much more satisfied with that Zhu Zhu toy (even though the tunnel to the wheel falls apart easy)One hint I would advise to avoid the high prices on Amazon, is to look at your local Wal-Mart. I found hamsters for $8, Bed & blanket for $5,the 2 room house / activity center for $20, and the garage and wheel for $15 each. If you can find an associate they may be able to let you know when the next shippment may occur. (that's what I did). Good luck on your Zhu Zhu pet search!

Just read through the other reviews and I'm very surprised with all the negative comments regarding this garage! I happen to think this is one of the best accessories for the fun house..!

Want to give a couple recommendations though for those who have problems with the garage staying together / not going anywhere. First, yes, the garage is extremely flimsy and will not stay together. It falls apart at the slightest move (or heck, when the zhu-zhu went through the doors it would fall apart!). How to fix? Simple, hot glue. It takes literally 30 seconds to hot glue the garage at all 4 snaps and it fixes your problem. The garage stays put.. the doors stay put and that is that - no more of it falling. Should you have to do this? Well, no, but its an extremely easy fix that is a solution to the problem.

Second issue.. how to get the car to go. When you put the car in the garage - do NOT push it all the way back! When you do this, you'll notice the car goes over a slight bump of some sort.. the zhu-zhu has problems getting on the car and wont go very far. Instead, put the car on the very edge of the garage, where the bumper is touching the doors when they are closed - all 3 of our zhu-zhus can "drive" this car just fine when it is like this (and, on carpet.. we have it upstairs on our carpet.. all 3 zhu-zhus have no problem going on our carpet!) - So there is a the solution for that issue.

When you do these things.. then it makes the garage one of the cutest accessories out there.. it is incredibly cute when the zhu-zhu goes down the ramp, into the garage and up the car and just "drives" it out! The zhu-zhu will stay on the car and just drive it around until you take it out of the car. We really do love this accessory.. quite entertaining (and the cats love it too!)

This toy is a great disappointment and total waste of money. My Grandaughter was so excited to get it. Instructions were terrible. After finally getting it together it wouldn't stay together! We are taking it back tomorrow. You can use it only once and it falls apart. Every time you touch it a part falls off! Terrible!!!!!!

Ok I have to admit seeing the little hamster roll up into the car and seeing it take off through the doors is pretty funny!!!
Really it is what it is, a plastic play car for the Zhu zhu pet hamsters.
While it does not seem overly durable it is an adorable accessory for the hamsters.
I did think the tubes were kind of hard to snap together, once together firmly I do not fear it will fall apart easily.
Just don't have very high expectations for it.

Parental comment: Not an inexpensive toy. However it performs as promiced. The zhu zhu rides down a short tunnel. Gets into its blue hot rod. And sure enough away it goes. Kinda comical in a sence. No frills just straight out zoom zoom zoom.

The plastic door do not line up properly and come undone quite a lot. The tube that the zhu zhu go into is not quite big enough for the pet to go thru so they get stuck quite often. My daughter still plays with it, but not as much as she or I thought she would as it is a bit of a hassle. For the price it is ok, but I sure miss the toys where the makers actually took pride in their work and made something with hiher quality instead of just mass produced.

This is a cute accessory for Zhu Zhu pets. The car is fun and will run on any flat surface. The garage worked fine for us but is much more fun for kids if you have some of the other sets to link it to.

We purchased this for a Christmas 2009 present as an addition to the other Zhu Zhu pet toys. It works well and the kids enjoy it. It has not broken and the car still works for a year now.

We purchased it during the height of the Zhu Zhu pet craze last year when stock was limited. We paid more than it was worth, but I knew that when I purchased it. We were trying to complete a Zhu Zhu pet "system" for our kids' Christmas. otherwise, I would not have paid more than $10 for it.
