I am a physician, trained in Western Science. I recognize that much of what is said in Li's book is too much for some people to hear. But I really recommend that EVERYONE read this book. Don't expect anything; the truth that is meant for you, will FIND you. This book, on the very first read, explained many things that have happened in my life that no other system of philosophy could explain, and I now have a peace and a strength that I did not have before. Quite frankly, the exercises seemed SILLY . . . until I tried them. All I can say is I hope you try them, too.

After the first time I read through the book, I felt that this is a great and unique book about Qi Gong and teaching how to become a good person as well. Before I read this book, I had many puzzles why Qi Gong and Tai Chi can provide significant health benefits for millions of practitioners around the world, even though there are so many books available. After the first reading, I found that I wanted to read it again and again. Through many times of reading of Zhuan Falun, I have realized that Zhuan Falun is the greatest book and a scripture of extensive knowledge and profound scholarship in the history of the cycle of mankind. Zhuan Falun not only reveals what Qi Gong truly is, why and how Qi Gong can heal illnesses, and why advanced-level Qi Gong can benefit people much more than physical exercise and modern medicine, but also many essential issues such as prehistoric culture, the true origin and the true meaning of human life, and the reality of different time and spaces. Most significantly, the book reveals the highest cosmic quality: Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance), and the Great Way of Falun Cultivation taught in the book can truly guide people to higher levels. The book is not associated with any religions, however can give guidance to anyone in their cultivation including those who have religious beliefs.

One significant feature of this book is that the author incorporates modern sciences and modern medical sciences to elucidate phenomena not revealed or discovered in modern society and illustrate advanced principles.

This book has been genuinely guiding me like no other spiritual book or practice I have ever read/practiced before...all the questions I have had regarding life and death, illness, spritual cultivation etc. have been answered by sincerely studying Zhuan Falun. I would recommend it to anyone, anyone at all, regardless of their opinions on spirituality, current beliefs, or opinions on Falun Dafa. I have, through the rational understandings gained through studying the book and self-reflection, improved my moral standards, achieved increasing inner peace and tranquillity, and many other great benefits.

"Throughout the entire course of teaching this Fa, I have intended to do things according to the principle of being responsible to everyone and society. In actuality, we have followed this principle. As for the result, I will not make any comment. It is up to the public to judge." (Zhuan Falun, Lecture 9)

"Lao Zi said: When a wise person hears the Tao, this person will practice it diligently. When an average person hears it , this person will practice it on and off. When a foolish person hears it, this person will laugh at it loudly. If this person doesn't laugh at it loudly, it's not the Tao." (lecture 9)

I first read this book last July. I have now been practicing Falun Dafa for a year, and I have no doubts that this is a truly special and great practice. All of my questions have been answered every time I read this book.
With regard to the mixed race and racist issues some reviewers have brought up, I am a mixed race woman (half black african/half caucasian blood). Mr. Li's teachings make it clear that though this world has indeed become very confused and chaotic, every human is precious, and in my understanding, gods only look at the human heart. No matter your race or sexuality or occupation, all that matters is whether your heart and mind are good.
Only we humans look at appearances.

All I can say is please, don't base your judgements on what others say, be it positive or negative (my view included). Just read it with an open mind. Zhuan Falun cannot be analysed as it is not a book of theories, but the truths of the universe. Be guided by your own heart, not others.

I had read a lot of books and magazines regarding to spititual world and related practicing methods, and tried several methods for several years.

The first time I read Zhuan Falun was in 1995 when I was a graduate student. I was excited at understanding some extraordinary principles in the book. Also the explanation of phenomena appeared among Qigong practitioners made me understand what I experienced but did not understand before. But there were some theories in the book that I did not totally accept at that time. Also there were some principles that I did not think about seriously at that time.

When reading the book more, I found more profound principles under the plain words. My questions were more and more as well. One day when I was reading the book and another related book, I suddenly felt my scattered knowledge about the spiritual world was pieced together. All major questions were answered!

Now, I read the book almost everyday. The more I read the book, the more I traesure it.

I guess for most people, it is not easy to understand and accept all the thories in the book at the first reading. My suggestion is: Read with an open mind from the beginning to the end (no skip). Read again and again with patience. Read other Falun Gong books as well. It is suggested not to mark on the book.

Wise people are those who have an open mind with their own judgement. I believe you will benefit more and more from the book if you could keep reading.

Countless other commenters have described this book, Zhuan Falun, as the best book they've ever read; and I must agree with each of them.

For those who commented about how odd certain things in this book were, they must understand that throughout Asian history and culture the things described have been recorded and known of and not just within the teachings of Falun Gong; it is not as if Mr. Li invented anything he spoke of. Even if one does not believe in these teachings, it does not mean that they should slander or try to convince others that Falun Gong is a cult, a sect, etc. I myself am a practitioner. Before you think to yourself that I am writing this comment and defending Falun Gong simply because I am a practitioner, think about it: Why would I have become a practitioner and have practiced for over 7 years in the first place if I had felt that it were a bad practice? I am just like the rest of you; I was obviously not a practitioner FOREVER, as I became one when I felt the practice was genuinely good. I live in the United States where we have the fundamental freedom of belief; yet I have still faced persecution to a degree, directly from the Chinese Government.

A couple comments were written by people who used to practice Falun Gong and then gave it up, and there is a reason why there are only a couple. If you meet a GENUINE practitioner and ask them to describe their experiences to you, they will tell you from the bottom of their hearts the positive things they have learned and received from practicing. Those who gave up the practice gave up something extraordinarily profound; they may give you reasons such as "Falun Gong frowns upon the use of medicine"...but in actuality, if one were a true practitioner, they would not seek to cure any illness to begin with; anyways, if you wanted to take medicine, not a single practitioner would forbid you from doing so. Who can stop you from taking medicine anyways?

For the ones who felt Falun Gong was taking over their lives and were too afraid to tell their family members what they truly felt about the practice, is it Falun Gong's fault that they were too afraid to even speak up to their own families? I don't believe it is at all. Cultivation practice is for each individual, and nobody is even permitted to practice for the sake of others. There is no membership for Falun Gong whatsoever.

Furthermore, it is up to you to believe whether millions and millions of people with illnesses cured directly after practicing Falun Gong were simply "at the right place at the right time." A very simple example: I personally know a family who practices Falun Gong with 3 young children who are around the ages of 5 and 7. These children have practiced Falun Gong since they were very young, and they have never been sick in their entire lives and they do not even understand the concept of hospitals or doctors. Again, if you believe this is just some big coincidence and they are just insanely healthy children, that's your decision. No one is begging you to convert into a Falun Gong practitioner either, but I simply want to tell you the truth about it, that it is a cultivation practice that teaches truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance and that there is clear evidence available of the health benefits of practicing; which is what so many others are also attempting to tell you.

For the commenters who made a mockery of this book and said that if you do not read it demons will come after you etc., I think that is a pretty sad thing to have done and does not serve as a review of this book at all. If one were to quote something from the Bible such as if you sin you will burn in hell, doesn't that sound as far-fetched? First of all, nowhere in Zhuan Falun does it say something as outrageous as demons coming to kill you in a matter of days if you don't read this book. Do you really think that each of the 100 million practitioners worldwide are uneducated people without reason, and they have all suffered cultivation insanity? Even if you do not believe in the teachings of Falun Gong, you would not think something like burning in hell for sinning were quite as strange, would you? It is only a matter of culture and your preset notions that you would defend your negative stand on Falun Gong based on the teachings you find to be so strange.

Those who oppose Falun Gong for whatever reason and agree with the persecution have only succumbed to the lies and deceit of the Chinese Communist Party's propaganda. The CCP does not only persecute Falun Gong practitioners, but many other people who hold beliefs/religious ideas that is not Communism, as the CCP is atheist and fear for their power. Do they have legitimate reasons to kill people? Does ANYONE have a legitimate reason to murder another human being? Falun Gong does not even seek any political power whatsoever. When the CCP is atheist, they believe they will not face any consequences for their actions, and thus they do whatever they desire no matter how immoral it is. To slaughter thousands of innocent practitioners, illegally send thousands more to labor camps, torture even young children to death while leaving others orphans; there is no excuse that would give them the right to do this. No excuse at all in this world.

For the comments saying that purchasing this book will help make Mr. Li rich, let me tell you that those comments are simply nonsense. These books are already extremely cheap as profits are not made, since the price is practically the price it takes to print these books. If you do not believe this, please consider the fact that this very book is available for FREE download on the internet. No donations are even accepted. All Falun Gong fliers and events are paid for by money out of the pockets of volunteers. Not one practitioner is asked to pay for anything; each contributes on their own wills.

I wrote this comment simply to tell all of you the real truth about Falun Gong and the persecution going on right now in China. By reading this review, I hope you have learned something and have realized the facts straight from a practitioner rather than someone who does not know the true story of what is going on.

I was told about this book by a Harvard student who graduated from Caltech where I am studying at. I did not believe her when she told me how much progress she had made after reading this book and doing the meditation, because I had been studying Chinese mediatation from almost every famous master for 17 years and had not achieved what she claimed. The reason that I read this book from internet was to give her a "lecture". After reading the basic version of Zhuan Falun, China Falun Gong, I was attracted to it. I finished Zhuan Falun in the next whole day and night. It answered most of questions I had regarding meditation, also called in Chinese as Qigong. But more questions followed.

Zhuan Falun teaches people a high level of meditation. The 5 set action is very easy, but cultivation part which emphasizes on mind purifying is more difficult. I suggest readers to read it many times over and over, because we are so polluted by the society that we are quite isolated from the principle of the universe- "truth, compassion and forbearance". Reading this book will help you to purify your mind which will in return help you to understand the book. A pure mind is a requirement for gainning high power from the universe. That is why all activities of Falun meditation are free of charge and no donations.

When I was in the middle school (1984)in China, I got heavy headache. I used every possible methods like herb, acupuncture, massage, even if after I immigrated to Canada (1997), I still could not find a way to cure my headache. Sometimes, I even lost the courage of surviving.

In 1995, I practiced Zhong Gong (one kind of the Qi Gong). I was very surprised that I felt much better than before. I asked why and began to search the answers. I read many Qi Gong books and practiced several kinds of Qi Gong. Then I found the traditional Chinese medicine was come from Qi Gong, so I decided to study some traditional Chinese medicine' knowledge and got a certificate of acupuncture and massage. I also found that there were relationship between Qi Gong, Buddha, and Dao. So I went to many temples to find the books about Buddha. I read many Buddha's book and Lao Zi' s book named "Dao De Jing". I also bought many tapes about Buddha to listen to the story of Shi Ja Mu Ni, Guan Shi Ying and music of Buddha.After I came to Canada, I read Bible.

I got more and more questions on my mind while I got more and more this kind of knowledge. For example: Who am I? Where am I from? What is the relationship between human being and the universe? What is the rule for the universe? Can I control my fate? Why should people suffer so many pains such as death, accident, and illness? What is the best way to help people? Why do I come to the earth? What is the real significant of my life? Finally (1998.3) I found all the answers are in the books written by Master Li Hong Zhi.

I keep practicing FaLun Gong and reading Master Li's book. Now I have recovered all the courage and getting better and better everyday. You may not believe it, but if you open the door of your heart, read the book, practice it, you can prove all the words in the book are true by doing it step by step yourself.

Actually, this is a very hard process to search these answers, but it is very worth with it. Please do not draw a conclusion when you just begin to read it. If you keep reading them and practicing them, I believe you will have many unsolved questions in your mind, then read Zhuan Fa Lun, maybe you will know it.

All seekers of knowledge who ever wondered about life, the world, universe, etc. should restart their search here. I studied philosophy, quantum physics, to Taoism, kung fu, psychology, anthopology, to music, poetry, painting; a wide specturm of human knowledge. Zhuan Falun told me things in an immediate way that my library of books could not answer. If you hunger for knowledge or even wonder what it is youve been looking for (so many do!) try this. A simple language book of complex beauty - majestic.

China Falun Gong is a serene and peaceful force for good it offers, entirely without interest in religious, political and money-making activities. It is indeed helping people to become morally and physically better people.

I am deeply thankful for this book and for what received, as a way of life, to guide my lives from now onwards, Falun Gong is non-sectarian, it demands no membership, no promises, and no money from us, it leaves us entirely free to follow our inner voice and this leads in turn to the highest and most noble form of behavior. For this gift I shall always be grateful.
