I would like to give this product 5 stars but i found it by chance. i have been treating my current cold sore with abreva (which is WAY OVER PRICED it is effective but it did not do what Zicam does)
My cold sore was almost clear from using abreva ......but it was at a scab stage slowly seeping fluid and not drying out as fast as i wanted it while still using abreva.
I was just about to pull off another tube of abreva when suddenly i looked up above the shelf and saw this new Zicam cold sore product that was half the cost plus it offered a $3 off promotional sticker so i thought I'd give it a try........... Well let me tell you as soon as i applied it all the remaining fulid in my lip started rising to the surface of my cold sore. I had to keep blotting it with a tissue to keep any further spreading of infection. After the second application of the zicam gel there was no more fluid in the scab and it reduced the swelling of the wound to a shrink!
It is advised not to use any other topical lip medications that contain zinc in conjunction with Zicam because it has a sufftient amount of zinc in the product.

I am not a doctor but i have found that the best way to keep a cold sores from occuring is to keep oral supplements in your medicine cabinet such as lysine, zinc, selenium, monolaurin, hyssop, and red marine algae..........GIVE ZICAM A TRY!

This stuff is incredible. I very rarely get cold sores and used to use Abreva when it was given out by perscription from the doctor..that is how long it's been since I had a cold sore...YEARS! However, I have been under a lot of stress and BOOM out pops some cold sores right on my lip making me feel like the wicked witch of the west...YUK. And it was so painful. I bought the Abreva and used it. It was messy and didn't really help. The cold sores were still coming out and I was in pain. So I went to Walgreens and asked the pharmacist, she told me about the Zicam, so I tried it. What a miracle...honestly. I liked that it has a DISPOSABLE swab, unlike Abrevs so I doesn't get on my hands..and cost much less...plus I had a $3.00 off coupon. I used it in the morning, wiped it on the cold sore and began to feel it working. By noon the sores were DRYING up. I couldn't believe it. I used it as advised a few more times and by the next DAY the cold sores were 50% better. I was so happy and was feeling so much better. I used it for a few more days to be sure they didn't return. I am being honest...this product works and is so much better than the Abreva. Give it a try, honestly...I had to share this because I was amazed. You don't have to suffer.

Great product! Took only 5 days to get rid of the cold sore. Much better than Abreva, and clear..not white.
