Best cough medicine ever,

I have been told Zicam has discontinued their Cough Spray. What a shame. It is the only cough medicine I am able to use and it works. There are those of us who, for one reason or another, are unable to use any cough medicine that contains alcohol. I was thrilled to find this product on Amazon. Amazing stuff.

This review is from: Zicam Cough Concentrated Max Cough Spray, Cool Cherry, .55-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I have what's called cough asthma. When I lay down, I cough. This is the only product that allows me to repress coughing and sleep. When I wake up after 6-7 hours, my first reaction was to cough. Another shot allows me to waken slowly not with a violent cough. My doctor used to prescribe codeine. When I told her of this, she nows tells others to try it. Why is it so hard to find????????

When it comes to cough products, you have little options for Dextromethorphan-only products due to harmless abuse of the active ingredient. You've got only a handful of DXM-only items, and these are: Zicam Cough(best deal when bought in a pack of two), Robitussin Cough Gels, DexAlone(hard-to-find, not likely to be sold anywhere but the Net. I saw them and bought them ONCE @ my local mom and pop pharmacy, I bought all of them, only 3 boxes, and the lady who sold them to me IMMEDIATELY went and asked the pharmacist if kids were using them to get high, after that it was bye-bye), Robitussin Max-Strength(NOT DM) and generic equivalents(preffered, cheaper & thinner), Sucrets Cough Lozenges(with a weak amount of only 10MG a lozenge), the even worse Hold DM(4MG a lozenge I believe & not to mention pricey) as well as the superior but expensive Delsym(which contains DXM Polistirex instead of Hydrobromide, which makes it time-released, lasting 10-12 hours).
This product is much-less palatable(tolerable to the taste-buds) when compared to Delsym(comes in Orange and (DELICIOUS) Grape flavors), but it gets the job done. It requires 5 sprays to reach the recommended dose of 30MG(working out to be about 6MG a spray). The flavor is 'Cool Cherry', basically just a Cherry flavor with disgusting Menthol added to make it 'Cool', but aside from the Menthol, that's my only complaint. In addition, it has no other harmful ingredients most manufacturers use to poison people trying to get buzzed. It's funny, that the FDA and our Gov. would rather harm people with potentially fatal additives instead of, -GASP-, them getting high! Most of these additives include, but are not limited to, Acetaminophen(possibly fatal in high enough doses), Guaifenesin(which can cause violent nausea and vomiting, which could cause the offending person to choke on their own vomit), Chlorpheneramine Maleate(an anti-histamine causing weakness, CNS-depression and other icky side-effects if exceeding recommended dose), and those are just the tip of the iceberg. So, if you'd like a product that'll actually work for your cough and has no nasty additives, I highly recommend this product(along with other single-ingredient products mentioned earlier).
