For the first time, I tried Zicam RapidMelts when a cold hit me. A couple days ago, I was down for the count. Headache, stuffed nose, coughing, sneezing, the whole set of symptoms. I had to take a day off from work and spent much of my time sleeping.

I also picked up a bottle of Zicam and began taking the tablets (they melt on your tongue within 15 seconds or so) as per the instructions. This actually is not unpleasant tasting. But what of the outcome? One day after being laid low, I was not feeling great--but I was feeling much better and could do most things I would ordinarily do.

In short? I bought this filled with skepticism, figuring that it couldn't hurt anything to give it a shot. I am now willing to entertain the possibility that this product is "the real deal." Next time I am afflicted with a cold, you can bet that I'll immediately start taking the Zicam.

As a teacher I come into contact with all kinds of germs. Sometimes all of the handwashing in the world can't keep the germs at bay. Just last week I caught a bug from one of the kids in my class. I started taking Zicam immediately and felt better in just a couple of days. Other teacher in my school had a similar bug that lasted for over a week. Zicam worked for me (and I actually liked the taste too.)

I used to get several colds a year, and they would usually knock me out for at least a week. For more than two years now I've been taking Zycam at the first hint of a cold. And for more than two years now I've never gotten sick like before. I absolutely love Zycam!

I used these the last time I had a horrible cold and it shortened it by about three days. I could actually function while I should have been feeling icky! Great product and tastes pretty good too.

One of the (er, few?) benefits of proximity to one-percenters means you see what people who can't afford to get sick do to keep themselves healthy. That's how I learned about Zicam. The third time I heard an exec bring it up, I went the store and bought some of the RapidMelts and also some chews. Not a huge fan of the chews, but LOVE the RapidMelts.

You know that feeling when you recognize you've been swallowing with greater frequency the past couple of hours, and it's too late! Soon it'll turn into a sore throat and then you'll have a full-blown cold! Noooooo!

The *moment* you recognize this feeling, take a couple. Then a half hour later, take a couple more. Experience the magic of avoiding getting a cold you feel from experience should have been already underway and inevitable. Some people take one every day; I don't do that, but maybe that works as well. Who knows -- do some trial-and-error, see what works.

I carry them with me everywhere. I never want to be stuck somewhere for hours and not be able to take a few at the first signs of getting a cold. You only have a short window to prevent a cold from taking hold, and I want these anywhere I'll be -- in my medicine cabinet/bag/desk/car/etc.

But hey, not everything works for everyone. But I can't see how it's not worth a try.

I, too, am a teacher, and I am currently in my first year. What you don't realize about teaching is just how much energy is required to be productive in the classroom. Thus, getting sick simply is not an option.

When I had my first cold three weeks ago, I, for some reason, opted not to take Zicam. Woe was I, indeed. I was miserable for about a week with a 102 degree fever for several days. This Thursday, however, I felt a cold coming on; you simply can't miss that dry feeling in the back of your throat when it's coming. When I got home Thursday evening, I popped Zicam and proceeded to take it every 3-5 hours while I was awake over the following days. The worst of it was yesterday, Saturday, when I had a slight fever of 99.6 degrees. Today, the only feeling of sickness I have is a stuffy nose. Other than that, I'm in great shape and won't have to miss work tomorrow like I did three weeks ago (it is cruel to get sick on one's weekends).

I'm a fan and will probably have to keep some Zicam in my purse for those times when I feel the cold monster creeping up on me. I suggest you do the same.

There's a routine when I get a cold. Day one: "Hmm, I seem to be a bit sniffly." Days two, three, and four: I am going through a box of tissues a day and feeling nothing but misery and self-pity. Days five, six, and maybe seven: I'm getting better, but I'm still going through way too many tissues. Day eight: basically recovered.

This time, I took Zicam. I followed the directions: take one at the first sign of a cold, and take another one every three hours. The routine was broken! Day one: "Gah, sniffles. I'll take Zicam." Days two and three: I take Zicam according to directions, but I'm still miserable and going through tissues like mad. Day four, which was today: "Aw, there's only one Zicam tablet left." I take it, but within a few hours I realize... my cold is nearly gone. I've fast-forwarded to day seven or eight!

Technically, it didn't help me that much with symptoms during the cold, as far as I could tell. But my cold is practically gone, far sooner than expected.
And, it's safe to take even if you're on anti-depressants or anything else that translates to "Don't take anything such as Nyquil that would lessen your symptoms." This is a huge plus!
I experienced no side effects. I don't know what happens if you don't obey its directions about not eating or drinking for 15 minutes after use and not eating/drinking citrus for 30 minutes before or after use, but if you take it right after a meal that doesn't have citrus in it, those aren't difficult to follow.
Lastly, it tastes nice (possibly good enough for kids to think it's candy; maybe keep it out of their reach) and dissolves quickly.

Take it as directed, and I think you'll be very happy with how much faster your cold goes away.
