Ziegfeld Follies,
This review is from: Ziegfeld Follies Paper Dolls (Dover Paper Dolls) (Paperback)
Tom Tierney has traced the history of the costumes of showgirls in the Ziegfeld Follies beautifully with these paper dolls. The illustrations are excellent and the dolls themselves express the image of the Follies. The costumes range from styles which resemble evening gowns to fantastic creations completely removed from the mundane. There are even two gowns from a patriotic wartime (WW I) revue.
The contrasts between the Follies dating from Ziegfeld's lifetime and those bearing his name but produced after his death are also interesting.

Well worth its price!,

We purchased this book for costume research. The artwork is very well done and colorful. Our costumer for the Crack in the Moon show loves thumbing though these pages for inspiration. The publication itself is on high quality stock and is endurable (for those who are a little rough on books, use them frequently, or purchase this book for cutting the paper dolls out).
Well worth its price: an excellent resource for imaginative costumers or designers.
