Book Description

August 1, 2007
As enduring as he is endearing, Tom Wilson's Ziggy celebrates four decades of bringing the funny to the funny pages inside Ziggy. This lavish hardcover collection features the best Ziggy panels spanning 1971-2011.

Heralded by the New York Times as a "lovable, optimistic, funny-page favorite," Wilson's short, bald, barefoot, and pantless Everyman focuses on rainbows and silver linings rather than dwell on the clouds in the sky. With amusing and poignant reflections such as "Just when you find the key to success, somebody changes the lock" and "Patience is a virtue that carries a lot of wait," Ziggy offers hope in the face of adversity to more than 75 million devoted fans.

Ziggy appears around the globe inside newspapers, greeting card envelopes, on T-shirts and calendars, and is frequently referenced in popular culture on shows ranging from Seinfeld and The Simpsons to 30 Rock and Jeopardy! As other strips come and go, Ziggy endures by staying relevant and adapting with the times in his own gently ruffled kind of way. Whether he's trying to figure out how to Facebook or file a complaint, inside a single panel, Ziggy comments on current events and technology, along with friendship and faith--all the while reminding us that we can't have life's rainbows without a little rain.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome but still miss the old days, August 5, 2007
This review is from: Ziggy: 2008 Wall Calendar (Calendar)
I have been collecting Ziggy calendars for 25 years. I miss the old days when a poster calendar was actually BIG and poster sized- that was the "official" Ziggy calendar- which also included a new title saying in each day grid, and it was FULL 16 months, meaning it actually had complete September, October, November, and December ( the calendar started in September) PLUS the next full 12 months- all pages. As the years went by, the calendar got smaller and smaller, and it lost the first four months, only beginning the calendar in January. It also lost the fun grid titles in each day. Still, I will always collect this calendar, and maybe one day- see the large format come back into play. That would be great.
