The Rotadent toothbrush does an excellent job however the products construction is completely inferior. I purchased the toothbrush online and as Amazon clearly states, online purchases do not qualify for the lifetime warranty. So when my Rotadent died a little over a year after purchasing it, I took the toothbrush apart. Rotadent claims the toothbrush is water proof and can be rinsed and handled like an ordinary toothbrush (as I did). When I disassembled the toothbrush I discovered that the unit is actually as waterproof as the common cell phone! The top where the drive mechanism contacts the brush is not sealed, the bottom where the charger connects is not sealed, and on my brush the center where the unit is assembled was not completely glued...so this seam also leaked. Everything inside the toothbrush was corroded including the battery, the drive unit, the motor, the switch, and charger.
I will purchase another Rotadent because there are no equivalent dental hygiene options available. My replacement Rotadent will not be handled anything like a regular toothbrush however, I will remove the head to rinse it and keep the unit as dry as possible.

Okay, so I'm a middle aged guy. No delusions of heading down the catwalk with gleaming pearly whites. But I'd still like to keep my ownn teeth.

I've used an Oral-B electric for years, which is a wonderful appliance. It's done great and my teeth are in great shape. But, my teeth are very tightly spaced. My dentist commented that I have a lot of pocketing in my lower jaw and pushed me to switch to this brush instead. It's a bit pricey, but ... she's a great dentist and I trust her.

It's a different feeling. It's very soft. At first, it's like having a fly in your mouth. Not very pleasant, and it doesn't have that "scrubby" feeling of the Oral B. I also miss the Oral B's automatic timer.

What I really do like about this brush is that the heads are very precise and get into the gum, but very very gently. I still floss every day, even though the appliance says it's just as effective.

My dentist said she could see a marked different in my gums in one week. So, how is that not a good thing? It's about the same price as the Oral B. However, if you buy this through your dentist - you do get the lifetime warranty.

Forget about all the Sonic, water pics, and all the new Oral-B products. This outperforms everything.

You will have to relearn how to brush, though. The top teeth are brushed in a "m" pattern, and the bottom teeth in a "w". pattern. At least that is how my dentist taught me.

I do have trouble with the back side of the teeth doing the "m" and "w" pattern. So I just go along the gum line, mainly.

The way I can tell effectiveness is the amount of material left when flossing. If I floss after using this product, I rarely find any material. With any other product, I always find material when flossing.

I use this brush nightly only.

1 YEAR UPDATE: I stop using this brush and use the ORAL B Sonic Brush, instead. It was to hard to learn this new way of brushing. I guess it was too hard to get this old dog to learn this new trick.

Rotodent really is worth purchasing. I've tried numerous electric tooth brushes over the last 20 years or so. I alway had some gum problems no matter how much I tried to follow my dentist's instructions. Also plaque was a significant problem. During last two years I have used Rotodent system alternating between different brushs provided. All gum problems have been completly eliminated and plaque build-up between dental visits reduced by about 90%. I also floss and use mouthwash. So between Rotodent, floss and mouthwash gums and teeth pretty close to perfect according to my dentist's evaluation. John

This is the best toothbrush I have ever used. It get's my teeth squeaky clean. The brush is the right shape and size so that you can brush each tooth and behind the teeth in the back of your mouth. It helped my gums a lot more than Oral-b.

Very happy with the Rotadent. Unfortunately, according to the paperwork that accompanies the Rotadent, the lifetime warranty only applies if the product has been directly purchased through a dentist. This fact is not clearly stated in the Amazon site product description.

This product is a waste of money. I purchased it a my dentist's office. After discovering that it has no power, the company sent me a replacement after my hygenist called and was on hold for 25 minutes. Warning: The warranty only applies if you buy it from a dentist. The replacement does not hold a charge either. My dentist will not issue a refund. I hate this toothbrush so much that I'm cutting my loss and tossing it in the garbage. Buy a Braun or Sonicare. Much better quality.

I have been using this brand of electric toothbrush for almost 20 years, since first instructed by my dentist. I come from a family of very poor teeth, and I am doing everything in my power to not only save mine, but keep them in good condition. So far, it's worked. Whether or not it's due to the Rotadent, I don't know, but I don't mess with success! (Of course, I also floss and use a water pik every night, and brush & rinse twice a day). This is only my 3rd Rotadent, which I think is pretty good for almost 20 years!

Even though I bought mine at dentist's office and it is covered by a lifetime warranty, I have stopped using it after the magnetic on-off switch fell off once again. It gets rusty because of water and eventually stops functioning. I just can't afford to wait on hold for so long (and get disconnected by them several times!) to reach their customer service to order replacement for broken parts.

This is my third Rotadent toothbrush. I keep buying it because it is the best toothbrush ever designed. I started using it about 6 years ago and have had outstanding results since day 1.
