I have used these sticks for several weeks now and they work well. I'd always wondered how to get a softer foll on the cymbals. For a while I has some timpani mallets as well as my regular sticks when I played the set but it was hard to switch. Now you still have to be a little coordinated, but it is a lot easier.
They are meant for cymbals. The are too hard for timpani.

Long stick provides easy manipulation for set playing. Mallets are slightly hard/firm but do the job of producing a mallet "sound" on drums and cymbals. Small bead on stick gives a quieter, sensitive cymbal sound (good for jazz/theater).
