We purchased this bulb to go into a ceramic holder, to keep a chicken coop warm at night in the colder weather.

Set it up and powered it through a thermostatically controlled power outlet. Last night was the first night of use, since we had a frost.

Went to check it this morning when the automatic coop door let the chickens out, and my partner remarked that "the bulb is loose." When I checked it, all the ceramic neck of the heat emitter was cracked and crumbled away from the metal cap that screws into the bulb holder. I managed to removed the heat emitter from the bulb holder and it was solely the wires and their insulators that were keeping the emitter and its metal cap together.

I have placed pictures of this product on the Amazon web site under "Share your own customer images." The pictures show just how badly this product has deteriorated after just one night's use, and also how hot the metal cap became, since it is discolored from the heat.

I can only conclude that this product is badly designed and manufactured to a low standard. How it was ever permitted to be sold in the USA I do not know. In my view, it is totally unsafe, unsuitable for its professed task and poses a potential fire hazard. I had to give it one star to publish this review, but it truly deserves none.

Worked great for my 5'x5'x3' enclosure for my iguana.
I received it exactly 2 months ago today and i saw my enclosure was in the high 60's. took the heater out and it has something loose rolling around. sounds like the coils inside failed and fell apart.

But the other heaters i have, made by another company, for the other reptiles are on their 3rd and 4th years. Wont by zilla again.
