20% zinc oxide, not pure zinc oxide as other reviews claim,

This product is fine, but other reviews seem to think it is pure zinc oxide. It is not. For the person who is looking for a particular product, be aware that it is 20% zinc oxide. (Desitin original formula is 40% in comparison). The label says 200 mg of zinc oxide per gram. The other ingredients are mineral oil, white petrolatum, and white wax. Cosmeticdatabase.com rates the zinc oxide ointment USP by Rite Aid (with the same ingredients) as a 1, which is an excellent rating, but is not the 0 as claimed by another reviewer. Still this is an excellent product as Desitin original formula has a much higher rating (worse) on the cosmetic database.

Wonderful cream,
This review is from: Zinc Oxide Ointment Protects Chaffed Skin - 1 Lb (Health and Beauty)
This diaper cream is what our hospital gave us. It has minimal ingredients so that I am not putting a bunch of harmful chemicals on my baby. I like the tub because it is easy to use. The tube version is metal and ends up with holes in it after a few uses.

My sister recommended this after her daughter went through rounds of doctor visits for severe diaper rash. My son has only had a few cases but the pure zinc oxide takes care of minor redness before it becomes a rash and healed the full-blown diaper rash in less than a week when other ointments weren't even making a dent!! We purchased the 2oz tubes from the grocery store (about $1.50) but I was excited to see there was a larger container available. This stuff works wonders!

I bought this because it was rated a 0 on cosmeticdatabase.com for chemicals, cancer agents, etc. And a great side plus is that it's cheap and it works!

I was prescribed this product by my doctor to heal a serious rash that had developed in the folds of my skin. Within about 3 weeks the rash was completely healed and the blisters were gone. My first purchase came in a tube, but the tub is much nicer-easier to apply and control the amount needed. I highly recommend this product!

I do not want to use harsh chemicals on myself or any other family member. I searched for this as a diaper rash treatment for my infant. It is very gentle (scores low on a product hazard website) and it clears up my babies occasional diaper rash within a few days.

This cream is wonderful as a skin protectant for my baby. It's cheaper per lb than any other protectant I found and works well. I end up buying 2 or 3 at a time to save on shipping because the shipping is almost as much as the product. It lasts a long time. It took about 1 month to go through a tub and this was the primary product used. I would sometimes also use petroleum jelly but my husband prefers the zinc. The doctor said that it's a good choice as well.

Zinc oxide ointment is an ingredient of basically all diaper rash creams. I find that applying it in its pure form works the best to heal my 6 month old's occasionally severe diaper rash. It is wonderful, very gentle yet strong, and it clears the rash overnight.

There are 16 ounces in a pound.$15.99 divided by 16 ounces is almost $1 per ounce. NOT 67 cents per ounce. The price should be $10.72 for that per-ounce price. |
